1 Y-Play Activities October Now that we have had a month of our new programs, Y-Fit Kids and Just-4-Kicks, for the Y-Play (Childwatch) Program, there are some small adaptions we are making to the programs. Y-Fit Kids (KidZone): The Y-Fit Kids program is going to become a daily activity. They are physical-fitness oriented activities that introduce fitness at its most basic level. With kids this age, structured fitness routines, aren t appealing. But fun activities that just so happen to get you moving are what get them interested! We want our parents to know that their children are not only in a safe environment while they exercise; but, that we are also engaging their children in fun ways to get their kids physically active while at the gym, too. Here s how this program will change: Y-FitKids will have a daily physical fitness activity. This activity will be based on the peak time for that day. It will not necessarily be at the same time everyday. And if necessary can be offered more than once in that day. The Y-FitKids activity will be led by the person on-duty in the KidsZone room. That staff member can make the determination of when is the best time to do the activity for that day, based on how many kids are in attendance. Even if there are only 2-3 children, it is required that the staff member engage them in one of our Y-FitKid activities. The numbers in attendance my not start off huge. However, this is a service that sets us apart from other gyms childcare. There will be a list of activities from which the staff member may choose. The staff member will need to record what Y-FitKids activity they did that day. This will help to keep the activities fresh and fun and to not inadvertently repeat the same activity over and over. Staff members can feel free to be creative, too! If you come up with a fun game or activity, write it on the list so others can share ideas. If your activity takes you to a different location please leave a sign on the table letting the parents know where to bring their kids. Also, let the staff member in childwatch know where you are going. Just-4-Kicks (Childwatch): Our schedule for Just-4-Kicks has changed slightly. For the month of October Coach Brent will have fun, soccer-skills activities for our 3-5 year olds. New Times: Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00am Attached you will find the list of activities for Y-FitKids, Activity Log Sheet and Location Signs for the table.

2 Y-FitKids Activity List Jump Rope Obstacle Course Yellow bucket items can be set-up for an obstacle course. o Hula Hoops can be used as hop spot-to-spot o Bases can be used as single leg hop o Combine bases & Hula Hoops to make a hopscotch section o Jump rope can be used as a tight rope on the ground. o Cones can be spread out or put in large circle and they run and touch each one. Or leap over single-line, wide-spaced cones. o Let the kids help design the course, too. Luck of the Draw Individual exercises are in one bucket. Time limits/numbers are in another bucket. Kids draw from each bucket and do that many or that long of an exercise Kickball Bingo-Fit Teams, Individuals, or the whole group get a Bingo-Fit card. You draw from the bingo bucket and they do the exercise until someone gets BINGO-FIT! Builders & Bulldozers One team sets up safety cones (spread out) and the other team waits until they re done. Then you time how long it takes for them to knock them over (have to use hands, can t kick.) Switch teams. Kangaroos & Penguins Everyone lines up. They hop to be a kangaroo and shuffle with hands to their sides to be a penguin. Pick and end point. They race to end. You yell penguin or kangaroo as they race and make them change several times as they go. No running! Only hopping and shuffling! Yoga-Stretch Hop Scotch Frisby Free Play Hula Hoop Ducks & Bears Same as penguin & kangaroos, except duck walk and hands and feet bear crawl.
