1 Course Description MOVEMENT EDUCATION The course is designed to provide the student with fundamental knowledge and skill of movement education and fitness activities. Spotting and safety techniques will be stressed. Basic and advanced movement skills and activities promoting personal fitness will be emphasized. Course Objectives 1. To learn proper spotting techniques and how to use them to ensure the safety of yourself and your fellow class mates. 2. To learn basic body movement skills and how to use them in you daily activities. 3. To provide students with opportunities for vigorous physical activities and to value their efforts which will improve both their minds and their bodies? 4. To develop Balance, Strength, Flexibility, Coordination, and Self Confidence. 5. To provide students with opportunities to use their imagination to create and learn body movement activities which will be useful during their lifetime. 6. To challenge students to seek and expand their personal limits both physically and mentally. Course Requirements and Evaluation 1. Class attendance, preparation, and active participation in all body movement activities, including spotting classmates, will comprise 60% of your grade. 2. Each skill or activity will be evaluated by your teacher and/or your classmates and will comprise 20% of your grade. 3. A written exam will be given and the results will comprise 20% of your grade. 4. All skills and activities checked off on the skill sheets must have been done in in class and show good form and execution to receive full credit. 1
