3 IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS WARNING : To reduce the risk of serious injury, read all important precautions and instructions in this manual and all warnings on your bike before using your bike. ICON assumes no responsibility for personal injury or property damage sustained by or through the use of this product. 1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of the exercise bike are adequately informed of all precautions. 2. Before beginning any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. 3. The exercise bike is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are given supervision or instruction about use of the exercise bike by someone responsible for their safety. 4. Use the exercise bike only as described in this manual. 5. The exercise bike is intended for home use only. Do not use the exercise bike in a commercial, rental, or institutional setting. 6. Keep the exercise bike indoors, away from moisture and dust. Do not put the exercise bike in a garage or covered patio, or near water. 7. Place the exercise bike on a level surface with at least 2 ft. (0.6 m) of clearance around the exercise bike. To protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the exercise bike. 8. Inspect and properly tighten all parts each time the exercise bike is used. Replace any worn parts immediately. 9. Keep children under age 13 and pets away from the exercise bike at all times. 10. Wear appropriate clothes while exercising; do not wear loose clothes that could become caught on the exercise bike. Always wear athletic shoes for foot protection. 11. The exercise bike should not be used by persons weighing more than 286 lbs. (100 kg). 12. Be careful when mounting and dismounting the exercise bike. 13. The heart rate monitor is not a medical device. Various factors, including the user s movement, may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings. The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general. 14. Always keep your back straight while using the exercise bike; do not arch your back. 15. The exercise bike does not have a freewheel; the pedals will continue to move until the flywheel stops. Reduce your pedaling speed in a controlled way. 16. Over exercising may result in serious injury or death. If you feel faint, if you become short of breath, or if you experience pain while exercising, stop immediately and cool down. 3

The WESLO CITY BI bike provides a selectioweslon of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the bike. If you have questions after reading this manual, please see the front cover of this manual. To help us assist you, note the product model number and serial number before contacting us. The model number and the location of the serial number decal are shown on the front cover of this manual. 5 PART IDENTIFICATION CHART Use the drawings below to identify the small parts needed for assembly. The number below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity needed for assembly. Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see whether it has been preassembled

6 ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until you finish all assembly steps. Left and right parts are marked L or Left and R or Right. To identify small parts, see page 17 As you assemble the exercice bike, use the drawings below to identify small parts. The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the parentheses is the quantity needed for assembly. In addition to the included tool(s), assembly requires the following tools: one adjustable wrench one Phillips screwdriver Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see if it has been preassembled. 7 STEP 1 Install the Front and Rear Stabilizers Fix the Front stabilizer (2) and Rear stabilizer (3) to the Main frame (1) with the Carriage bolt (13), Arc washer (14) and Acorn nut (15). STEP 2 Install the Handlebar Post Connect the Sensor wire (17) to the Connective wire (18) from the Handlebar post (4). Put the end of Tension controller (20) into the spring hook of Tension cable (16) as Picture shown. Finally, insert the Handlebar post (4) to the Main frame (1) and secure with the Allen bolt (19) and Arc washer (36). STEP 3 Install the Saddle Post Fix the Saddle (6) to the Saddle post (24) with Flat washer (32) and Nylon nut (33), and then insert the Saddle post (24) with Saddle into the Main frame (1), tighten with the Knob (10). Note: When adjusting the height of saddle post, the maximum insert depth mark line cannot be higher than the edge of the tube of Main Frame section. 7

8 STEP 4 Install the Right and Left Pedals Attach the right and left Pedals (8L/R) to the Crank (9) respectively. The right Pedal (8R) should be threaded clockwise. The left Pedal (8L) should be threaded counterclockwise. NOTE: The right and left Pedals (8L/R) are marked R for right & L for left. STEP 5 Install the Handlebar Fix the Handlebar (5) onto the Handlebar post (4) with Spring washer (25) and Bolt (26).; finally put on the chuck cover(27) STEP 6 Install the computer Though the Connective wire (18) from the hole of computer bracket (34), then connect with the wire from console (7). Insert the console bracket to the handle post(4), then attach the console (7) to the console bracket (34). Now, your machine is ready for use. 8

9 HOW TO USE THE EXERCISE BIKE HOW TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE SEAT For effective exercise, the seat should be at the proper height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest position. To adjust the height of the seat, first loosen the post knob a few turns. Next, pull the knob outward, slide the seat post upward or downward to the desired position, and then release the knob into one of the adjustment holes in the seat post. Move the seat post upward or downward slightly to make sure that the knob is engaged in one of the adjustment holes. Then, tighten the knob. HOW TO ADJUST THE PEDAL STRAPS To adjust the pedal straps, first pull the ends of the straps off the tabs on the pedals. Then, adjust the straps to the desired position, and press the ends of the straps onto the tabs. HOW TO LEVEL THE EXERCISE BIKE If the exercise bike rocks slightly on your floor during use, turn one or both of the leveling feet under the rear stabilizer until the exercise bike is level. 9

10 CONSOLE FEATURES Contacts to D to display the trip distance you are traveling. Calories Press the button until the ARROW points to C to display the calorie consumption. Odometer Press the button until the ARROW points to O to display the total accumulated distance.(changing the batteries will reset this value). HOW TO USE THE CONSOLE Make sure that the console has batteries (see page MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING). If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove it. 1. Turn on the console To turn on the console, press any button on the console or simply begin pedaling. If there is no moving within 4 minutes, monitor will turn off automatically. 2. Press the buttons : MODE: Press the button of the function you want to be displayed. FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers an array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. Note: Before using the console, make sure that batteries are installed. If there is a sheet of plastic on the display, remove the plastic. Follow your progress with the display. The console has one display that show the following workout information : Speed Press the button until the ARROW points to S to display the current speed. Elapsed Time Press the button until the ARROW points to T to count the elapsed time. AUTO SCAN: Press the button until the ARROW points to A, the monitor will rotate through all 5 functions Speed, Distance, Time, Odometer & Calorie. Each display will be held for 6 seconds. RESET: Pressing the button for more than 3 seconds will reset all functional values to zero except Odometer. 3. Start pedaling and follow your progress with the display : While you exercise, the console will display the selected mode. 4. When you are finished exercising, the console will automatically turn off. If the pedals do not move for a few seconds, the word STOP will appear in the display, and the console will pause. The console has an auto-off feature. If the pedals do not move and the console buttons are not pressed for a few minutes, the power will turn off automatically to save the batteries. Trip Distance Press the button until the ARROW points 10

11 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING MAINTENANCE Regular maintenance is important for optimal performance and to reduce wear. Inspect and properly tighten all parts each time the elliptical is used. Replace any worn parts immediately. To clean the bike, use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight. your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone. BATTERY REPLACEMENT If the console display becomes dim, the batteries should be replaced; most console problems are the result of low batteries. To replace the batteries, pull off the battery cover and place two SIZE-AAA batteries into battery housing on back of monitor. Insure that the batteries are correctly positioned and battery springs are in proper contact with batteries. Replace battery cover and insure it is tightly closed. Be aware that the battery life is approxlimatky 1 year under normal usage. If the display is illegible or only partial segments appear, remove batteries and wait 15 seconds before reinstalling. NOTE: Removing the batteries will erase computer memory.

12 EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING: Before beginning this or any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems. The heart rate monitor is not a medical device. Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings. The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general. These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember, proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results. EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, exercising at the proper intensity is the key to achieving results. You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level. The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise. Burning Fat To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone. Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system, you must perform aerobic exercise, which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time. For aerobic exercise, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone. WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise. A warm-up increases your body temperature, heart rate, and circulation in preparation for exercise. Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 minutes with your heart rate in your training zone. (During the first few weeks of your exercise program, do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes.) Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise; never hold your breath. Cooling Down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching. Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post-exercise problems. EXERCISE FREQUENCY To find the proper intensity level, find your age at the bottom of the chart (ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years). The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone. The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning, the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning, and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise. To maintain or improve your condition, complete three workouts each week, with at least one day of rest between workouts. After a few months of regular exercise, you may complete up to five workouts each week, if desired. Remember, the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life. 12

13 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back Hamstring Stretch 2 Sit with one leg extended. Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg.reach toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. Stretches: Hamstrings, lower back and groin. 3. Calf/Achilles Stretch 3 With one leg in front of the other, reach forward and place your hands against a wall. Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor. Bend your front leg, lean forward and move your hips toward the wall. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. To cause further stretching of the achilles tendons, bend your back leg as well. Stretches: Calves, achilles tendons and ankles Quadriceps Stretch With one hand against a wall for balance, reach back and grasp one foot with your other hand. Bring your heel as close to your buttocks as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times for each leg. Stretches: Quadriceps and hip muscles Inner Thigh Stretch Sit with the soles of your feet together and your knees outward. Pull your feet toward your groin area as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Quadriceps and hip muscles.
