Read all warnings posted on the Band Flex XS. Read this Owner's Manual and follow it carefully before using the Band Flex XS. Make sure that it is properly assembled and tightened before use. We recommend that two people be available for assembly of this product. Keep children and pets away from the Band Flex XS. Do not allow children to use or play on the Band Flex XS. It is recommended that you place this exercise equipment on an equipment mat. Set up and operate the Band Flex XS on a solid level surface. Do not position the Band Flex XS on loose rugs or uneven surfaces. Prior to each use, check the condition of the Cables. Replace the Cables if the plastic coatings are cracked or broken. Prior to each use, verify that the Cables are properly installed on the Pulleys. Prior to each use, check the Bungee Cords(26, 27, and 28) for wear. Replace Bungee Cords that are frayed or worn. Prior to each use, check the plastic hooks on the both ends of all Bungee Cords and replace any Bungee Cords that have damaged hooks. Prior to each use, check the Pulleys for excessive wear. Replace worn Pulleys. Inspect the Band Flex XS for worn or loose components prior to use. Make sure that all bolts and nuts are tight. Consult a physician prior to commencing an exercise program. If at any time during exercise you feel faint, dizzy, or experience pain, stop and consult your physician. Follow your physician's recommendations in developing your own personal fitness program. Always choose the workout which best fits your physical strength and flexibility level. Know your limits and train within them. Always use common sense when exercising. Do not wear loose or dangling clothing while using the Band Flex XS. Never exercise in bare feet or socks; always wear correct footwear, such as running, walking, or crosstraining shoes. Be sure that they fit well, provide foot support and feature non-skid rubber soles. Care should be taken in mounting or dismounting the Band Flex XS. The Band Flex XS should not be used by persons weighing over 250 pounds. The Band Flex XS should be used by only one person at a time. The Band Flex XS is for consumer use only. It is not for use in public or semipublic facilities. Before reading further, please review the drawing below and familiarize yourself with the parts that are labeled. Read this manual carefully before using the Band Flex XS. Although Stamina manufactures its products with the finest materials and uses the highest standards of manufacturing, occasionally a part that does not fit, is the incorrect size, or is otherwise inappropriate is found. Place the washers, the end of the bolts, or screws on the circles to check for the correct diameter. 6 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Place all parts from the box in a cleared area and position them on the floor in front of you. Remove all packing materials from your area and place them back into the box. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Read each step carefully before beginning. If you are missing a part please call our toll-free number for assistance 1 (800) or us at: parts@staminaproducts.com RIGHT LEFT STEP 1 Attach the LOWER UPRIGHT(2) to the BASE FRAME(1) with BOLTS(M10x1.5x20mm)(45) and WASHERS(M10)(53). STEP 2 Attach the LEFT and RIGHT SUPPORT FRAMES(4, 5) onto the BASE FRAME(1) with BOLTS (M10x1.5x20mm)(45) and WASHERS(M10)(53). Do not tighten the bolts. Attach the LEFT and RIGHT SUPPORT FRAMES(4, 5) onto the LOWER UPRIGHT(2) with BOLTS(M10x1.5x105mm)(50), WASHERS(M10)(53), and NYLOCK NUT(M10x1.5)(55). Tighten all bolts. 6

7 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS STEP 3 Attach the SEAT FRAME(9) onto the LOWER UPRIGHT(2) with BOLTS(M10x1.5x105mm)(50), WASHERS (M10)(53), and NYLOCK NUT(M10x1.5)(55). Do not tighten the bolts. STEP 4 Attach the SEAT SUPPORT(10) onto the SEAT FRAME(9) and the LOWER UPRIGHT(2) with BOLTS (M10x1.5x20mm)(45) and WASHERS(M10)(53). Tighten all bolts. STEP 5 Slide the UPRIGHT(3) onto the LOWER UPRIGHT(2) and secure with BOLTS(M10x1.5x20mm)(45) and WASHERS(M10)(53). 7

8 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Adjustment Brackets STEP 6 Attach the SEAT CUSHION(12) onto the SEAT FRAME(9) with BOLTS(M8x1.25x50mm)(43) and WASHERS(M8)(52). STEP 7 Refer to the inset drawing. Attach the BACK SUPPORT(6) onto the back of the BACK CUSHION(13) with BOLTS(M8x1.25x45mm)(42) and WASHERS(M8)(52). Attach the ADJUSTMENT BAR(7) onto the BACK SUPPORT(6) with BOLT(M8x1.25x75mm)(44), WASHERS(M8)(52), and NYLOCK NUT(M8x1.25)(54). STEP 8 Attach the BACK CUSHION(13) onto the UPRIGHT(3) by attaching the BACK SUPPORT(6) onto the Bracket on the UPRIGHT(3) with BOLT(M10x1.5x85mm)(48), WASHERS(M10)(53), and NYLOCK NUT (M10x1.5)(55). BACK CUSHION(13) ANGLE ADJUSTMENT The BACK CUSHION(13) will stay at its upright position without using the ADJUSTMENT BAR(7). The angle of the BACK CUSHION(13) can be adjusted by placing the lower end of the ADJUSTMENT BAR(7) into one of the Brackets on the UPRIGHT(3). 8

9 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS STEP 9 Attach the LEG CURL FRAME(11) onto the SEAT FRAME(9) with BOLT(M10x1.5x65mm)(47), WASHERS(M10)(53), and NYLOCK NUT(M10x1.5)(55). Do not over tighten the bolt, as the LEG CURL FRAME(11) must be able to pivot smoothly. STEP 10 Slide a FOAM PAD(15) onto one end of the PAD TUBE(14), then insert the other end of the PAD TUBE(14) through the hole on the SEAT FRAME(9). Slide another FOAM PAD(15) over the protruding end of the PAD TUBE(14). Repeat for assembling the PAD TUBE(14) and FOAM PADS(15) on the LEG CURL FRAME(11). 9

10 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Hook Hook STEP 11 Attach the TENSION POSTS(8) to both sides of the UPRIGHT(3) with BOLTS(M10x1.5x172mm)(51), WASHERS(M10)(53), POST SPACERS(30), and NYLOCK NUTS(M10x1.5)(55). STEP 12 There are three different sizes of BUNGEE CORDS, SMALL(26), MEDIUM(27), and LARGE(28). Attach the BUNGEE CORDS(26)(27)(28) to the TENSION POSTS(8) with three PULLEYS(16), two PLASTIC SPACERS(19), BOLTS(M10x1.5x85mm)(48), and WASHERS(M10)(53) on each side as shown. Assemble the SMALL BUNGEE CORD(26) to the outer side of the TENSION POSTS(8). Hook the lower ends of the Cords to the Hooks on the LEFT and RIGHT SUPPORT FRAMES(4, 5) on both sides. 10

11 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS RIGHT A B LEFT STEP 13 Attach a PIVOT PULLEY SET(25) to the LEFT SUPPORT FRAME(4) with WASHER(M8)(52) and NYLOCK NUT(M8x1.25)(54). Run the EYELET END of the RESISTANCE CABLE(21), 1240mm (48.8") long, through the PIVOT PULLEY SET(25) and connect to the TRIANGLE RING(29) with the HOOK(60). Hook the TRIANGLE RING(29) to the upper ends of the BUNGEE CORDS(26)(27)(28) with the PLASTIC HOOKS. Repeat on other side. STEP 14 NOTE: Do not over tighten BOLTS(46, 49) as PULLEYS(16) must rotate freely after BOLTS(46, 49) are tightened. Run the EYELET END of the LAT BAR CABLE(20), 1460mm (57.5") long, through the slot at the top end of the UPRIGHT(3). Attach the BALL END of the LAT BAR CABLE(20) to the UPRIGHT(3) at A with a PULLEY(16), a BOLT (M10x1.5x95mm)(49), a NYLOCK NUT(M10x1.5)(55), two WASHERS(M10)(53), and two PULLEY SPACERS(17). Attach the LAT BAR CABLE(20) to the Bracket on the UPRIGHT(3) at B with a PULLEY(16), a BOLT (M10x1.5x45mm)(46), a NYLOCK NUT(M10x1.5)(55), two WASHERS(M10)(53), and the PULLEY GUARD (18). Hook the EYELET END of the LAT BAR CABLE(20) to the hook on the back of the UPRIGHT(3) with the HOOK(60). 11

12 OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS Multiple Functions: Depending on the way the cables are connected, the Band Flex XS can be set for different functions as follows. USING THE HAND STRAP FUNCTION Connect two CONNECTION CABLES(59), 310mm (12.2") long, to the RESISTANCE CABLES(21) on both sides with the HOOKS(60). Attach the HAND STRAPS(31) to the CONNECTION CABLES(59) with the HOOKS(60). Now you can work out with the HAND STRAPS(31). Hook the HAND STRAPS(31) to the hooks on the LEFT and RIGHT SUPPORT FRAMES(4, 5) for storage. NOTE: Store other CONNECTION CABLE(59), 310mm (12.2") long, by attaching the cable to the LEG CURL FRAME(11) and SEAT SUPPORT(10) with the HOOKS (60). Hook Hook USING THE LEG CURL FUNCTION Connect all three CONNECTION CABLES(59), 310mm (12.2") long, together with the HOOKS(60) as the illustration shown. Now you can work out with the LEG CURL FRAME(11). NOTE: Hook the HAND STRAPS(31) to the hooks on the LEFT and RIGHT SUPPORT FRAMES(4, 5) for storage. 12

13 OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS USING THE LAT BAR FUNCTION Refer to the inset drawing. Swing the CONNECTION CABLES(59) upward, 310mm (12.2") long, and connect to the LAT BAR CABLE(20) with the HOOKS(60). Attach the LAT BAR(32) onto the LAT BAR CABLE(20) with a HOOK(60). For some exercises, the CHAIN(34) should be attached between the LAT BAR(32) and the LAT BAR CABLE(20) with two HOOKS(60). Hook BACK VIEW RESISTANCE ADJUSTMENT The approximate resistance of each Bungee Cord at full stroke is given below. Cord Size SMALL MEDIUM LARGE Single Cord Resistance 17 lbs. 21 lbs. 30 lbs. NOTE: Always use the same number of Bungee Cords on both sides. To change the resistance of any function, hook or unhook the Bungee Cords from the TRIANGLE RING(29) at the upper ends of the TENSION POSTS(8). 13

14 STORAGE To store the Band Flex XS simply keep it in a clean dry place. MAINTENANCE The safety and integrity designed into the Band Flex XS can only be maintained when the Band Flex XS is regularly examined for damage and wear. Special attention should be given to the following: Verify that the Warning Label is in place and easy to read. Call Stamina Products immediately ( ) for a replacement Warning Label if the Warning Label is missing or damaged. It is the sole responsibility of the user/owner to ensure that regular maintenance is performed. Worn or damaged components shall be replaced immediately and the Band Flex XS removed from service until repair is made. Verify that the Cables are properly installed on all Pulleys. Check the condition of the Cables. Replace the Cables if the plastic coatings are cracked or broken. Check the Bungee Cords(26, 27, and 28) for wear. Replace Bungee Cords that are frayed or worn. Check the plastic hooks on the both ends of all bungee cords. Replace Bungee Cords with deformed or damaged hooks. Check the pulleys for excessive wear. Replace worn pulleys. Only Stamina Products supplied components shall be used to maintain/repair the Band Flex XS. Keep your Band Flex XS clean by wiping with an absorbent cloth after use. 14

15 WARM-UP and COOL-DOWN Warm-up The purpose of warming up is to prepare your body for exercise and to minimize injuries. Warm up for two to five minutes before strength-training or aerobic exercising. Perform activities that raise your heart rate and warm the working muscles. Activities may include brisk walking, jogging, jumping jacks, jump rope, and running in place Stretching Stretching while your muscles are warm after a proper warm-up and again after your strength or aerobic training session is very important. Muscles stretch more easily at these times because of their elevated temperature, which greatly reduces the risk of injury. Stretches should be held for 15 to 30 seconds. Do not bounce. Suggested Stretching Exercises Lower Body Stretch Place feet shoulder-width apart and lean forward. Keep this position for 30 seconds using the body as a natural weight to stretch the backs of the legs. DO NOT BOUNCE! When the pull on the back of the legs lessen, try a lower position gradually. Bent Torso Pulls While sitting on the floor, have legs apart one leg straight and one knee bent. Pull the chest down to touch the thigh on the leg that is bent and twist at the waist. Hold this position at least 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times on each side. Floor Stretch While sitting on the floor, open the legs as wide as possible. Stretch the upper body toward the knee on the right leg by using your arms to pull your chest to your thighs. Hold this stretch 10 to 30 seconds. DO NOT BOUNCE! Do this stretch 10 times. Repeat the stretch with the left leg. Bent Over Leg Stretch Stand with feet shoulderwidth apart and lean forward as illustrated. Using the arms, gently pull the upper body towards the right leg. Let the head hang down. DO NOT BOUNCE! Hold the position a minimum of 10 seconds. Repeat pulling the upper body to the left leg. Do this stretch several times slowly. Remember always to check with your physician before starting any exercise program. Cool-Down The purpose of cooling down is to return the body to its normal, or near normal, resting state at the end of each exercise session. A proper cool-down slowly lowers your heart rate and allows blood to return to the heart. Your cool-down should include the stretches listed above and should be completed after each strength-training session. 15

19 LIMITED WARRANTY MODEL WARRANTY Stamina Products, Inc. warrants that this product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, service and proper operation for a period of 90 days on the parts and three years on the frame from the date of the original purchase from an authorized retailer. THIS WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO ANY PRODUCT WHICH HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO COMMERCIAL USE, ABUSE, MISUSE, ALTERATION OF ANY TYPE OR CAUSE OR TO ANY DEFECT OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY REPAIR, REPLACEMENT, SUBSTITUTION OR USE WITH PARTS OTHER THAN PARTS PROVIDED BY STAMINA PRODUCTS, INC.
