Sensation 2.0 & 2.5 Sensor Phone by OneMedia Partners Inc A Training Tool for Emotional and Physical Fitness
The Mind-Body Crisis In Western medicine, there is a persistent idea that the mind and body are separate, conflicted entities. Many people don't realize that chronic pain, anxiety and depression can be affected in a positive and immediate way by learning to control skin temperature, heart rate and sweat. This approach is used by astronauts, fighter pilots and professional athletes for peak performance. Mastery of this discipline, called biofeedback, requires exercise, meditation, proper nutrition and coaching. OneMedia is a company dedicated to offering sensor devices that help guide and motivate people as they seek emotional and physical health.
Sensation 2.0 & Sensation is a watchphone that has built in sensors to monitor heart rate, skin temperature, skin moisture, steps and calories, indoor or outdoor location. It also has a builtin speakerphone, SOS button and OLED touchscreen display. It connects to Sensation's web portal via GPRS, to a PC via Bluetooth and to an Android App via SMS. The sensors can be used on the top and bottom of the wrists, the ankle and the palms. Users can manually log pain, cravings and mood changes and intensities directly on Sensation.
What Sensation Can Detect? Based on the user's entered height and weight, as well as data from the sensors, Sensation can detect if its user is indoor or outdoor, underweight, normal or overweight and: Sedentary, Active or a Power Walker Energetic, Excited or Joyful Calm, Relaxed or Peaceful Busy, Stressed or Frustrated Bored, Fatigued or Depressed
Sensation as Advisor The default goals of Sensation is to encourage its wearer to be Active and to spend as much time as possible being Happy. These goals can be changed or customized, but the principles are: To teach users to maintain good circulation to hands and feet To reduce stress-activating sweating and shaking To understand emotional changes related to heart rate To drink enough water and eat correctly To get fresh air and sunlight To keep the body in motion with exercise, stretching and walking
Sensation as Advisor The device and its companion Android App lets users know: Are their sensor readings in normal range? Are they making progress to their goals? What information do they need to make more progress? What should they ask a doctor, coach or nutritionist about?
How to use Sensation? Sensation on wrist Sensation on bottom of wrist Sensation on ankle Sensation on palm
Example User: Sedentary, Overweight and Depressed Clinical studies prove that biofeedback is an effective tool for fighting depression. Sensation can offer biofeedback to improve the user's mood, along with encouraging ideas that can increase overall health: Using the heart rate sensor with forced laughing to make the pulse change significantly from beat to beat Using the GPS to go outside or at least sit by the window to get Vitamin D from the sun Using the pedometer to walk at least a few thousand steps in a shopping mall Suggesting foods that improve mood, like salmon
Example User: Underweight, Power Walker and Fatigued Biofeedback is also used by physicians and physical therapists to rehabilitate muscles, joints and nerves. Those Sensation users who spend time walking, climbing steps, carrying objects, standing in subways, waiting in line and running after taxis can use the product to manage fatigue and increase physical performance. Sensation would suggest: Drinking enough water to achieve and maintain at least 50% skin moisture on the top of their wrist Stretching the leg muscles thoroughly, while wearing Checking on and adjusting foot wear and socks Leaving enough time to digest food
What Can Sensation Do For Migraines? Migraines can be treated by promoting circulation to the hands, through thermal biofeedback. Sensation's temperature sensor is a powerful tool to treat migraine headaches, as well as chronic pain. In this case, the user should: Flip Sensation over from the top of the wrist to the bottom of the wrist Start deep breathing Turn on the skin temperature sensor Relax as the wrist and hands become warmer Repeat this exercise for 5 minutes, 3 times daily
What Can Sensation Do For Cravings? Biofeedback is proven to help people slow down their compulsions, understand their origin and make healthier choices. Sensation can help users battle addictions, eating disorders and general cravings. If a user suffers from drug addiction and the system detects frustration, it will suggest several ways to calm down and regain self-control, such as: Wearing Sensation on the top of the wrist, try moving your arms in circles until your temperature raises at least 3 degrees Fahrenheit. Place Sensation's sensors on your open palm and try deep breathing until your skin moisture drops by 10% or more. The Sensation SOS button can also be used to communicate with a counselor or specialist.
What Sensation Can Do For Anxiety? Biofeedback is the most accepted way to modulate a person's fight or flight response, during stressful situations. Sensation can help people take control of their emotions during panic attacks and help them reduce their chronic stress. For example, a f r i g h t e n e d a i r p l a n e passenger during turbulence can: Place Sensation on the top of the wrist and turn on your heart rate sensor Visualize a safe, peaceful place. Pour a cup of water and observe how, even if the water moves during turbulence, it stays in the cup Watch your heart rate drop by 5-10 beats per minute
Why Should People Try Sensation? It gives users metrics for stress reduction, pain management, selfcontrol and physical fitness It gives the user a dedicated, secure way to communicate their data online or to others Sensation learns from its user and provides personalized responses Sensation It provides interactive content to the end user, including suggestions and exercises It doesn't look like a hospital or laboratory device It looks, feels and functions like a normal smartwatch
Sensation for Peak Performance Sensation is an excellent tool for leaning how to perform during stress. Its sensors can be used to learn how to stay focused. For example: Take Sensation off the wrist and place the fingers directly under the sensors. Visualize and mentally rehearse stressful situations in great detail and notice how they affect palm and finger moisture. Write down which specific thoughts or ideas increase the stress response in the skin. Now try to expose yourself to very stressful sounds or images and keep the skin moisture sensor from increasing or decreasing. The lower the palm moisture and slower it changes, the readier you are to handle stressful situations.
Using Sensation During Yoga, Tai Chi and Other Disciplines Biofeedback can be used during Yoga, Tai Chi and martial arts training, thanks to Sensation. For example, users can: Wear Sensation on each ankle and practice warming their feet while stretching Practice warming their feet with meditation only During bikram yoga, users can practice maintaining and even decreasing their skin moisture levels despite the intense heat Sensation can be used alongside Hypnosis, Rolfing, Lamaze, Autogenic Training, Neurolinguistic Programming and Alternative Medicine.
Using Sensation For Physical Fitness Aside from all the emotion related aspects, Sensation's sensors can assist users with basic fitness training goals, including the ability to: Pedometer count steps and calories Heart rate from the wrist, with no chest strap Skin moisture sensor to make sure user actually sweats during work out, and reminds to drink water Temperature sensor helps with warming up muscles during stretching and observing cool down after workout Device gives suggestions to take care of feet and back Device gives suggestions on vitamins to take
Sensation for Hypnotherapy Since the 19th century, vital sign measurement has been used to aid in hypnosis. Freud, Jung and Pavlov checked their patients' pulse, breathing, skin temperature and hand moisture to detect their mental status. Thanks to the bright screen on Empath, therapists can monitor patient heart rate as they guide them into a hypnotic state They can observe palm sweat changes in real time They can give their patients meaningful reports afterwards, thanks to the web portal
Sensation for Group Therapy One of the most powerful aspects of Sensation is its web portal. The web portal provides very detailed reports on the device user's data, including graphs and charts. This is useful for: Observing group responses to stimuli Showing people how they stress out other people Responding in real time to those members of a group that are stressed
Sensation and Medication Sensation is also a remote monitoring device, thanks to its many communication capabilities and versatile web portal. This enables a therapist, counselor or researcher to remotely see how a user is responding to medication. This is very important for helping: Clinical research organization test subjects Alcoholics and drug addicts Bipolar patients Pain management clients Weight loss clients
