4 ACH HISTORY AT A GLANCE The Home Mission Societies of the Methodist churches of Fort Worth and suburbs meet to form an organization with the objective of bringing about a closer fellowship, cooperation and better understanding between the Methodist churches of the district The Methodist Union resolves to invite all the missionary societies of the city to meet, a committee is appointed to draft a new constitution and bylaws, and the organization is called the Church Women s Federation. The Church Women s Federation adopts the Women s Cooperative Home as its special work Innovative thinking leads to an expansion of services and expanding the Home into four, more family-like residential group homes. The Women s Cooperative Home is chartered in Fort Worth, Texas. The Home is located at First and Taylor streets and is established to provide care for destitute women and children The Women s Auxiliary is formed for young women who want to volunteer and has supported children in care ever since To better address changing needs, services expand to include case management, therapy and psychiatric support The name of the Home is changed to All Church Home for Children and in 1936 relocates to the Samuel Burk Burnett mansion at 1424 Summit Avenue Through a special lease agreement with the Texas Youth Development Corporation, a Boys Ranch is opened near Stephenville Services are expanded to include In-Home Services, Campus Respite Care, Foster Care and After-Care programs ACH becomes nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), the Residential Group Care program moves from the Summit Campus to the Wedgwood Campus, and the Boys Ranch becomes a foster home After an initial Group Home opened in the Wedgwood area in Fort Worth, the Wrigley Way foster home is established and the Behavioral Group Care Program begins. The Families Together Program begins, the first of three new family homes opens at Wedgwood, and ACH combines operations with the Bridge Youth and Family Services to expand services to include a Youth Emergency Shelter, Street Outreach (HOPE), and Services to At-Risk Youth (STAR).
5 ACH becomes a United Way of Tarrant County community partner and adopts new mission and vision statements The groundbreaking ceremony is held for the Wichita Street Campus Project 19.5 acres and nine buildings donated by Valerie and Michael Mallick. The LIFE Project (Learning Independence from Experience) opens and ACH launches its first social business venture, the Belltower Chapel and Garden All Church Home for Children is renamed ACH Child and Family Services ACH celebrates the completion of the Wichita Street Campus renovations and signs a contract with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to be the Single Source Continuum Contractor for Region 3b ACH celebrates 100 years of protecting children and preserving families in North Texas. The Women s Auxiliary is reinstated and yach is formed to give young professionals social and service opportunities. The Youth Emergency Shelter relocates to the Wichita Street Campus and the Behavioral Care residential program relocates to the Wedgwood Campus Our Community, Our Kids (OCOK) is formed as a division of ACH to manage the only urban Foster Care Redesign initiative with DFPS, overseeing the foster care provider network in seven counties. Our Community, Our Kids is relocated to the Summit Campus. Renovation of the nearly 100-year old dining hall into the Jo and Holt Hickman Center began in March and in December hosted the annual meeting of the Board of Directors. Primarily for the role OCOK played in Foster Care Redesign, helping to pass Senate Bill 11 and making Community Based Care a reality for the entire state, ACH wins the CNM (Center for Nonprofit Management) Nonprofit of the Year Award, the first time the honor has been bestowed on a Tarrant County organization. ACH leverages its beautiful campus by celebrating foster families with the first Super Hero Family Fun Fest in May and again in December with the first Rockin in a Winter Wonderland family-friendly holiday event and concert that attracted more than 650 individuals. ACH applies for and receives a grant from the Rees-Jones Foundation, the largest grant in ACH history. The grant will be used to help fund a breakthrough project, Innovations in Foster Care: A Plan for Transformation After the relocation of all programs, the ACH Summit Campus is sold. The Virginia and Meto Miteff Family Home is completed.
