Apologies Apologies were noted (see list above). Previous Minutes Ciara worked through the actions of the previous minutes. No amendments noted. All actions will be discussed in the agenda. Guest speaker- Ruth Allen informed the group about Community Sector training- Safeguarding children. The discussion was had about how many was needed to host the training A number of questions were asked- how often training needs updated etc. 13,000 trained to date For Community, voluntary and Youth groups only Train the trainer to be offered out after Christmas The group decided that a Child Protection Refresher could be needed in the Armagh area Members signed in Flyer to be distributed Ruth.Allen@southern trust.hscni.net Julie to get a date asap and send out to LPG 1

2 Action plan- taking things forward; 1. Keady Engage Youth (KEY)- an update was given to the group. Still places available. Please see flyer for programme attached to minutes. Residential to Killowen Outdoor Education is currently being booked for Feb ~(funded by PHA- CLEAR Programme). CYPSP locality budget has covered staff costs to run this programme. 2. Don t box me in has applied for Big Lottery. 3. Funding Fair- Practical workshops-working with Margarita from NR and John McGuiness (ABC). Jacqueline happy to assist with this event. This will take place end of November 2016 Emerging needs- Impact on Volunteers mental health having met with local families with a lot of need. Lack of PSNI on the ground. The Mall Family support hubs update (Pat McGeough); Very busy. 15 per month- in access of this at present. Recently carried out review of hub standards (x 10 core standards). Report card- TRUST REPORT 2015 to Future problem with funding. Member Agency Update. Nicola (REACT)- Programmes running Monday night- December Love for life Good uptake for Girls group Tai Chai sessions Youth Committee x 14 Mentoring Fund raising Thursday drop in Drugs and Alcohol- mocktails- units of alcohol EA- Small grants Jacqueline to link with Richard from Food Bank to inform him of mental health first aid training Chase up PSNI officer to attend LPG meetings Julie to send report card out to LPG Agencies to be mindful of the Toybox service. Linkages to be made between Jacqueline, Stephen Smith and Nicola 2

3 AOB- 1. Toxic Childhood Score card. Julie explained that there is going to be a follow on workshop on Mood and Food. To be held end of Feb. Julie to send information out when booked 2. Lynn- Action for children now taking referrals in Newry area. 4 Progress Report - September 2015 Priority: Raise awareness of Support Services available for Children, Young People and Families Action Lead Responsibility Progress to date Organise an Information Event in partnership with local Primary schools in the Keady area Information Event Subgroup Family Fun and Information Event took place on Friday, 13 November 2015 at the TMAC Centre, Keady. This was a very successful and enjoyable day. 5 Priority: Review Membership of Locality Planning Group (Increase representation of Community/sports groups) Action Lead Responsibility Progress to date Liaise with Council in relation to the proposed new City wide Community Forum Explore opportunities for community groups/organisations to feed into the Locality Group Compile a list of sports organisations within the Armagh Area Undertake a survey of LPG members to ascertain their commitment and contribution to the Locality Planning group and to identify possible organisations to be invited to participate in the LPG. Draft and publish an information leaflet to promote the work of the Locality Planning Group Locality Admin Margarita O Donnell and Helen Cranney ACBCBC Locality Admin Helen Cranney ACBCBC and Mid Ulster Councils Locality Admin Annie met with the Armagh neighbourhood Renewal Community subgroup to raise awareness of the work of the LPG and to explore opportunities to engage with local communities, including the new Community Forum Agreed Next Steps Action Lead Responsibility 5

6 Priority: Improve dental registrations and dental health Action Lead Responsibility Progress to date Work in Partnership with ArKe Sure Start to deliver a Tooth Fairy Event in Armagh Mia Murray (ArKe Sure Start) A very successful Tooth Fairy event was held on Thursday, 15 October 2015 in Sherry s Field Armagh. Over 50 Children, parents, teachers and childminders attended the event. Explore activities and programmes which have increased Dental Registrations in other areas e.g. Down Sure Start s successful programme at increasing dental registration in Murlough. Annie met with Clare-Marie Dickson (Down Sure Start) regarding research undertaken in relation to dental health and work being taken forward by the South Eastern Outcomes Group focusing on improving dental health among children and young people.
