First quarter of 2016 was full of achievements, sports, recreational, and health related activities. Eratex got Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate awarded by Finance Minister of Indonesia, for excellence in compliances with Customs rules and regulations. Another highlight of the quarter is Table tennis tournament involving employees from various departments in factory. Have a pleasure reading!!!!!!!!. 2 Exercise & Leisure Table Tennis Tournament Table tennis or ping-pong in Bahasa is one of the most popular sports in Indonesia. Employees are regular in playing table tennis as Company is consistent in providing necessary support for playing table tennis in the factory premises. In last quarter employees formed a table tennis committee to organize the tournament. Invitations were given to all departments to participate in the tournament. Total 93 teams (doubles and singles, males and females) were formed involving operators, junior, senior supervisors /managers from almost all sections. In order to ensure that all can participate and enjoy, all matches were scheduled on Sundays. 4 Environmental Tree Planting Planting tree /plants is a part of consistent environment protection activities in Eratex. An environmental project called Ruang terbuka 1000 pohon ( Open space to be converted into park with 1000 trees) was initiated in Q-2, During his last visit to factory, Director of the Company, Mr Sasivanen also participated in this program by planting a mango tree in the designated area. Mango tree not only gives the delicious fruit but also works as high CO2 absorbent. Eratex Park on city road. In order to beautify the locality and to create more awareness about tree planting and green environment in the surrounding society, Her Project committee of Eratex took an initiative of making a small Eratex Park beside Ketapang Triwung Lor Road, Probolinggo. Different types of flowers, such as Portulaca Oleracea, Tricolor Dracaena were planted in this park which will soon start giving a beautiful look to the park. Newsletter-Volume 8 - April
5 Welfare/Safety/Training Cancer awareness seminar by Indonesia Cancer Foundation Eratex women Committee and HER project committee, with the support of Indonesia Cancer Foundation, Surabaya organized a seminar in factory premises on 28th February 2016 to spread awareness about Cancer / Tumor. 87 workers from various departments and Peer Educators (PEs) attended this seminar to gain valuable knowledge about cancer. The topics covered in the seminar included details about cancer and tumor illness, type of cancer, symptoms, prevention and treatment. Besides theoretical knowledge, the instructors from Indonesia Cancer Foundation also demonstrated the technique to check breast cancer. Newsletter-Volume 7 - January
6 Dyspepsia awareness health Seminar by BPJS (Health Department) Eratex women Committee and HER project committee, with the support of BPJS Probolinggo organized a health seminar in factory premises for employees on Sunday 31st January 2016 to create awareness about dyspepsia. 79 workers from various departments and Peer educators (PEs) attended this seminar and gained in depth knowledge / training about dyspepsia from BPJS s doctors. The seminar covered various topic such as cause of dyspepsia, symptoms of dyspepsia, food to be avoided by dyspepsia patient, how to prevent dyspepsia and medical treatment for disease. 7 Her Project 2 nd Batch Kick Off Training of first batch of HER Project, comprising 40 PEs 2200 employees, successfully completed on Dec Apart from gaining a good health related knowledge, the training also contributed a lot in shaping up a positive work environment in the factory as in order to effectively execute the training programs we formed HER project committee and Women s committee who took a lot of good initiatives to improve the women workers health, green environment and to provided new ideas for lifting up the scale of CSR activities. Management also supported all the initiatives with no condition. Efforts of HER project committee were duly recognized not only by Company but also by government officials of Probolinggo city. With all these positive impacts of HER project training, management decided to go for training of 2nd batch comprising 2,200 workers. Accordingly the kick started on 9th Jan HER Project committee conducted health assessment survey of female workers and a team of 40 Peers educators (PE) was selected from female workers who will get health related training from YBS and will impart health knowledge to the female workers in their group. Eratex is committed to make a positive change in the life of female workers with HER Project. Health Assessment Survey Newsletter-Volume 8 - April
8 Authorized Economic Operator Certificate AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) program is structured within the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. On International Custom Day (26th January 2016), Eratex along with other 22 Indonesian companies from various industries received AEO certificate from Finance Minister of Indonesia. AEO certification signifies that company is fully compliant with rules and regulations relating to customs and its systems relating to security are in line with Global standards. Besides AEO certificate, Eratex also got award for its higher performance in customs compliances by Malang custom department on International custom day. 9 Local Community Care School Visits to Factory Premises Eratex, being one of the largest companies in Probolinggo City, welcomes educational tours in its campus organized by various schools from surrounding areas. The students not only see the garment manufacturing process but also get briefing about different aspects of garment industry and industrial setup. The better understanding about an industrial setup in schooling stage helps students in selection of their educational career. Newsletter-Volume 8 - April
10 Best Industry Practice HIV-AIDS Awareness As per UNICEF report (source: (UNICEF)), HIV infection is increasing at an alarming rate in Indonesia as in every 25 minutes one person in Indonesia gets infected by HIV virus. One of the main reasons is lack of proper awareness about the disease as well as about the precautionary measures. Keeping in view this HER Project committee of Eratex took the initiate and compiled a document to increase awareness about HIV-AIDS among Eratex employees. The document is also included as part of our training curriculum. It covers simple explanation about the disease, how HIV-AIDS Virus can be prevented from spreading, general precautions in public areas, training steps for HIV AIDS awareness and dealing with a HIV AIDS infected person etc. Source: (n.d.).
