3 Presidents Message I hope all of you who were on summer holidays had an excellent summer and most of the members are returning or have returned will get back to work and children going back to the school. This will be an exciting time to exchange stories and experiences, good and bad. That is the spice of life. The activities in the club will start to pick up as well. The budget of all the sections was approved and I hope this will translate to interesting events. Members enjoyed the world cup matches in the cinema hall. The competition was full of surprises. I hope that we will be able to make use of this for the other football matches as well in the future. HSE & Security The detour is in place now and members are now used to it. I hope all goes on without any incidents. The basic principle of following rules and respecting others will make a better environment for all the members. Ras Al Hamrah Club The activity level in the club was very low due to the summer holidays. The swimming pool was busy with children and adults enjoying the pool to cool off. RAH Recreation Club Development Engagement Work on the golf club is proceeding and will be worth the waiting. The opening is coming closer and many of you may have seen the lights go on. 4 NEWSLETTER OUTPOST MUSCAT July & Aug 2014 The Outpost Muscat Team The team at Outpost Muscat is dedicated to assisting you with practical information and guidance on all non-contractual matters. We can assist you on arrival and on an ongoing basis during your assignment. Outpost Networking Mornings Networking events are designed to provide spouses with the opportunity to meet new arrivals, network with other spouses and to ask Outpost questions. Our next Networking Morning is on Sunday 17 th August from a.m. at The Coffee Shop in PDO Club. Outpost Information Mornings Every month Outpost organises an Information Morning at the office (5 Karim Flats) from 9:00 10:30. This morning focuses on new arrivals but all are welcome. Come in to get an Outpost publication, view the notice boards or exchange experiences. We will be there to answer your questions. Join us on 9 th July & 13 th August from 9.00 to a.m. Bus Orientation Tour Once every two months, Outpost Muscat organises a Bus Orientation Tour for new arrivals, showing hospitals, schools, ROP-stations and shopping centres in the Muscat area. The next Bus Tour is on Wednesday 24 th Sept from 8.30 to Contact Outpost to register for the trip. Our Publications We have a range of publications to help you such as our Inside Guide, Career and Development Guide and key documents on subjects including: Housing Driving in Oman Hiring Domestic Help Departure Checklist Birth Registration in Oman Emergency For copies please contact Outpost or pop into the office. Welcome Services Team If you are a new arrival, and on an accompanied basis, a member of our Welcome Services Team will contact your spouse to offer assistance with settling in.

This assistance includes CV advice and information on study options. We also hold regular Career and Development events such as Interview Skills and CV-writing workshops. Summer Office Opening Hours The office will be open on Tuesdays from 8 to 11 a.m. during the months of July and August. Outside these hours, appointments can be made. The usual opening hours (3 days per week) will operate from September onwards.

8 Table Tennis Tournament Organized by Ras Al Hamra Recreation Center and sponsored by Pocari Sweat, Sabah Mustafa Al-Fadhil, from the Table Tennis committee in PDO - Recreation center organized the 7 th annual tournament for Singles & Doubles Table Tennis tournament on a full day Friday May 16 th The event was categorized into 3 groups, Youth 17 yrs & below, Adults 18 yrs and above, and Doubles as almost around 80 players took part in the competition. Below are the results of the tournament. Winner Youth category Karolis B.
