1 MARCH 2017 So, You Think You Can Lip Sync?!? Here are all the details! All members of an act must be a registered participant of Relay for Life of Pottstown. The first 12 acts to turn in their contest registration form and entry fee will be allowed to participate; all others will be alternate teams in the order of registering. Each act is responsible for their props. This includes, instruments, microphones, etc. All contestants must be ready on time. Will forfeit performance otherwise. All songs and performances must be in good taste. Appropriate attire must be worn during the entire performance. Registration forms and entry fee must be turned in on or before May 10, 2017 Team Captain Meeting. There will be a 5 minute stage limit for each performance. This includes Act Introduction, set up on stage, 3 minute song (at 3 minutes all music will fade out) and exiting the stage. Performances will be judged on the following categories: Judge s Choice: Lip Sync Ability Appearance Audience Response *All decisions by the judges will be final* People s Choice: Based on Fundraising during event and after performance See Donna Russell or Emily Murphy with any questions.

Online Updates Our new website is up and running and open for registration! To help with the new registration process, we have made some help videos that will step you through it. There are also videos of how to personalize your dashboard and use the website to send personalized e- mails. Please don't forget to submit your team fundraisers to us at pottstownrfl@gmail.com so we can post them on our Facebook page and our Google calendar. Volunteers Needed! We still have positions for the 2017 Relay season that we need to fill. Our huge Relay is not possible without all of our volunteers stepping in and donating their valuable time! We have created two SignUpGenius.com signups where you can choose where you would like to help us. 1. Relay Recess - we are looking for liaisons to our area schools to bring the Relay Recess program to them. Sign up here: Thank you for those who have volunteered to assist with a school. Other Volunteer Positions: We have a variety of other positions available, such as helping with tent site selection, ceremonies, day of event activities, and more. 4 Page 4 LUMINARIA Pottstown Relay for Life is 20 this year and one of the best parts of Relay day is the Luminaria ceremony. Not many people know you can decorate your own bags! The Luminaria committee has a new decorating kit you may borrow to decorate your luminaria bags. If you have someone special you would like to encourage in the fight you can customize your unique Luminaria bag anyway you want! Memorialize loved ones lost in the fight by adding photos, expressions, be creative remember good times as a family it is good therapy! The kit is stocked with stickers, paint, colored pencils, glue, Mod Podge for weather proofing photos, glitter glue, and decorative paper scissors. The only thing we ask is that you refill the kit with anything you may use from the kit. If you have something different you want to add to the kit feel free. If you don t have time for that direct family and friends to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life website where they can dedicate white bag luminaria. Participants get fundraising credit for Luminaria Family and Friends dedicate! We have forms are available at the Luminaria table during meetings for those who may not want to dedicate Luminaria on line. Just a reminder all day of event luminaria will be placed on the track as they are ordered. Any luminaria purchased before Relay will be alphabetized as in the past. If you are decorating your bags at home please be sure to place a name on them at the bottom for alphabetizing. This way you will ensure you can find your special Luminaria day of Relay! 5 Page 5 Entertainment If you have any ideas for entertainment for the 2017 Relay, please let us know by ing pottstownrfl@gmail.com Road to Recovery Every day thousands of cancer patients need a ride to treatment, but some may not have a way to get there. The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. How does the program work? Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars so that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need. If you or your loved one needs a ride to treatment, call the American Cancer Society at to be matched with a volunteer, or search online for programs in your area. Am I eligible? Patients must be traveling to an appointment required to begin or complete cancer treatment, or to an appointment for complementary therapy during cancer treatment. Transportation cannot be provided for follow-up appointments after treatment has been completed. Patients must be ambulatory, able to walk unassisted to and from the vehicle, or have an accompanying caregiver to assist. Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legally responsible adult such as a parent or caregiver. A 4 business day advance notice is required, not including the date transportation is needed. They are a $2.00 donation and the drawing is on June 21, SPIRIT WEAR We still have a few shirts and sweatshirts available!
