4 Let s Get Who Started is AM? Setting our intentions for today s work!

5 Mission and Vision Mission: To love and serve the needs of neighbors experiencing homelessness. Vision: Communities of faith and social goodwill are educated and actively applying their essential abilities to help address and prevent homelessness in Pierce County, through engagement with social service agencies and other innovative programs. 5

6 Purpose Statement Associated Ministries convenes these meetings in partnership with other homeless and housing service providers working in Pierce County, with the goal of creating an energizing space to gather regularly to learn about, discuss and take action on the crisis of homelessness in our community.

7 What Will We Achieve? 1. Bring like-minded people together! 2. Inform and educate attendees about homelessness in our community 3. Seek understanding of effective interventions 4. Discuss potential projects and solutions to positively impact homelessness

8 Ground Rules 1. Please limit your questions to the topic being presented. 2. Please refrain from asking questions specific to other challenges or personal issues you may be experiencing. 8

10 Action Steps LET S FILL THE ROOM! Outcome: 100 people of faith and goodwill attend each CQM: Action steps: Pastors, deacons, and/or clergy staff invite one of your colleagues to the next CQM. Attendees invite ONE friend to attend the next CQM. SC Members will meet with 1 or 2 pastors per month. Pastors, if you haven t already endorse the CQM. Make sure information about upcoming CQM are circulated in your church, job, etc.

11 Action Steps Identify an area of service on the 2019 Goals for the CQM: Is your church willing to provide and/or support Safe parking? Can your congregation support Shared Housing Services? Will your congregation invite a representative to come out and share information on the Landlord Liaison Services?

16 James Pogue, Director of Homeless Outreach for Comprehensive Life Resources Youth Shelter at the Beacon Center, serves up to 40 youth and young adults ages How to Get Involved? Shelter is seeing socks, underwear, hoodies/sweaters, track suites and shoes. Backpacks and belts. Food, specifically bread, breakfast pastries and bars. Your church or place of worship can offer meals. The shelter can provide the kitchen. The shelter needs a donated van that seats 7 or more people. Contact: James Pogue at jpogue@cmhshare.org or

24 Getting Involved Tacoma Rescue Mission: volunteer to serve a meal, donate undergarments and more. Contact: Noah Baskett at noahb@trm.org. Salvation Army Shelter: work directly with families to help them secure housing; stock shelves; be a shopping assistant; gardening; donate needed items such as socks, underwear, pajamas, twin-size bedding and ORCA bus passes. Contact: Martha Sheppard at martha.sheppard@usw.salvationarmy.org. Shared Housing Services: host a young adult experiencing homelessness; participate in adult home sharing, donate gift cards, bus passes or hygiene products. Contact: Mark Merrill at markm@sharedhousingservices.org.

25 Getting Involved Landlord Liaison Project: works with landlords, property owners, households with a room for rent to provide Fair Market Rent for households experiencing homelessness. Contact: Alexis Eykel at x157 or alexise@associatedministries.org. Catholic Community Services Nativity House: volunteer to serve a meal, donate undergarments and more. Contact: Melissa Moss at MelissaM@ccsww.org. DaduHomes, a new social purpose corporation, will build units for the faith community at cost. The cottages include kitchen, bath, living room, and washer/dryer. Contact: Ken Miller, the DaduHomes founder at krm403@gmail.com for more information.

26 Getting Involved FHN Family Day Center: families experiencing harmlessness can drop by Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri. 9am-4pm and Wed. noon to 6pm. Families will have access to showers, laundry, kitchen facilities and computers. The day center is seeking donations of shampoo, diapers, feminine hygiene, towels, washcloths, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, razors and non-perishable snacks/boxed meals.
