Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas: Disaster Relief Supporting America s Military Families Lifesaving Blood Health and Safety Services International Services

Volunteers teach CPR and help prepare for disasters or assist with recovery efforts. 7 Habitat for Humanity My New Kentucky Home A Brush with Kindness A program to preserve homes and revitalize neighborhoods, a Brush with Kindness assists eligible homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. Projects include painting, landscaping, weatherization and minor repair services.

9 Partners for Education Partners for Education at Berea College works to improve educational outcomes in Appalachian Kentucky. Ongoing volunteer opportunities include programs such as GEAR UP, i3 and Promise Neighborhood. Partners for Education leverages $18 million annually to serve 15,000 young people and their families. 11 St. Agnes House St. Agnes House was originally opened in 1975 for patients located in Eastern Kentucky and other Appalachian counties who needed cancer treatments at Lexington care facilities. The original mission was to provide a warm, homey atmosphere in which cancer patients can feel safe and cared for, as little like an institution as possible.

12 St. Agnes House Today, St. Agnes House still maintains the same desire to care for those who need treatment in Kentucky. Guests share living spaces where they can converse with other guests dealing with the same difficulties. Volunteering activities include: Answering phones and simple office tasks Preparing rooms for guests and household tasks Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens and common areas. Organizing and taking inventory of supplies, linens and towels Writing thank-you notes Maintaining the yard and flower beds Assisting in writing grants and organizing fundraising events Contact: or

13 Keep Lexington Beautiful The Keep Lexington Beautiful Commission is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Their mission is to engage citizens to protect and improve Lexington s environment through preventing litter, reducing waste, and beautifying our community. 15 Supplies Overseas Supplies Overseas is a medical surplus recovery organization that responsibly recovers, sorts, and distributes unused, left-over and under-used medical supplies and equipment. 16 Blessings in a Backpack Each week in schools throughout Louisville, children on the free and reduced lunch program are sent home with a backpack filled with non-perishable food to last them through the weekend. The Blessings in a Backpack program keeps these students from going hungry on the weekends to remove barriers to academic success. 17 Ronald McDonald House Ronald McDonald House provides rooms for the parents and families with children who are facing an extended stay in one of the downtown Louisville hospitals. Volunteer opportunities include: Bake snacks and treats for families Light cleaning around the RM House such as vacuuming, unloading dishwashers, straightening the kitchens, etc. Contact: Sidney Blanford

19 Rauch Inc. Rauch Inc. in New Albany, IN, serves adults and children with disabilities through a variety of services. Volunteers are needed to help paint interior rooms and read to clients; entertainers also are needed. In addition, the organization collection needs include: body wash, deodorant, TARC tickets, office materials, paper products, old jewelry, materials for art projects, new and gently used toys/stuffed animals, Wii games, and tickets to museums, ball games, movies, stores and restaurants. 21 Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence In addition to providing a safe, secure environment for victims/survivors and their children, the Center offers a variety of support services to residents and non-residents including: Legal/court advocacy, case management, safety planning, support groups, individual counseling, housing assistance, job search and children's groups.
