HOW WE BEGAN 'I LAUNCHED 1 MILLION WOMEN BECAUSE I REALISED THE INCREDIBLE POWER WOMEN HAVE TO TRANSFORM SOCIETY.' Natalie Isaacs, Founder 1 Million Women is a new kind of movement. We are women who are acting in our own lives to protect our planet and climate for future generations. Founded in 2009 by mother of four Natalie Isaacs, then a cosmetics manufacturer, Natalie realised that individual action is key to solving the climate crisis. Deciding to leave behind the over-packaged world of skin and beauty care, she set out to create an organisation that inspires and empowers women to act. Natalie is a pioneer in the gender and climate change arena in Australia. Her own climate journey from apathy to real action cuts through complexity and delivers a simple message that resonates with women and girls of all ages. "Women are powerful. We make up to 85% of decisions that make up the household's carbon footprint. We have enormous influence as consumers." Natalie says. "My vision is to inspire climate action through women's empowerment. How we live is a key solution to the climate crisis." 3 1 MILLION WOMEN

HELLO FROM OUR CEO We engage in a different way and reach women way beyond the green belt. I came on board in February My twin girls and I had volunteered with Natalie and 1 Million Women at various events. We had a small family foundation and decided to start financially supporting 1 Million Women. As a grant maker, I wanted to make more major grants to have potentially a greater impact by helping to build capacity for one or two organisations rather than my previous spread across many approach. I believe that climate change is the biggest issue of our time. I also believe it is imperative that countries and corporates drastically reduce their carbon footprint and I am passionate to empower individuals do the same. I decided to help Natalie achieve her vision and I not only financially contributed but also came on as CEO. 1 Million Women is a game changer and is eminently and easily scalable. There is so much power in what we are doing - creating a mass movement of women and girls globally who are fighting climate change through their everyday actions and decisions. Tara Hunt CEO 1 Million Women 5 1 MILLION WOMEN Tara and her twin daughters

OUR WORK SINCE OUR LAUNCH, WE HAVE GROWN INTO THE LARGEST MOVEMENT OF WOMEN IN AUSTRALIA OF OVER 300,000 WOMEN AND GIRLS FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE. THE FOLLOWING PAGES SHOWCASE OUR KEY AREAS OF FOCUS. 7 1 MILLION WOMEN

A LOW CARBON LIFE 1 A low carbon life is a key solution in the fight against climate change. Our uniqueness is that we capture real data on behaviour change. Through our website, we provide the tools to live a low carbon life. Our members can easily audit their lifestyles and chose daily activities for cutting carbon pollution and calculate their carbon savings. We calculate and measure the collective impact of the carbon savings and use these stats to inspire more behaviour change from our members and broader audience. We focus on the key areas of daily living - household energy, food, shopping, investing (your money), travel and sharing. To date we have over 100,000 women who have pledged to cut 160,000 tonnes of pollution. 9 1 MILLION WOMEN

COMMITMENT TO OUR GIRLS 2 We ve made a commitment that 20% of our members will be girls under 20 years of age. It is an essential part of what we do and very dear to our hearts. Through our youth program, 100,000 girls, we present at schools around the country. We inspire girls to join 1 Million Women, empower them to act in their own lives to cut carbon pollution and encourage them to become our ambassadors of change. Our schoolgirls are some of our most enthusiastic and engaged members. They are the next generation of consumers and decision makers. They will be experiencing the effects of climate change first-hand. In February 2016, we are introducing a new schools empowerment program to inspire young women to become competent and brave future leaders on climate change. Our aim is that they take that leadership with them into their chosen field - whatever that may be. To date we have engaged tens of thousands of schoolgirls. Please see this video of a thousand schoolgirls with head of the UNFCCC, Christiana Figueres, at our 1 Million Women event during her 2015 trip to Australia MILLION WOMEN

We hold incredible power through the choices we make every day. 1 Million Women engages, informs and guides women to fight climate change by understanding and utilising our own economic power - from the daily purchasing decisions through to divesting our superannuation, banking and investments away from companies that invest in fossil fuels. We see a virtuous cycle for women saving money while they cut waste and reduce carbon pollution in their daily lives. It translates to women having more money to invest well and build their economic security and independence. We ve inspired hundreds of thousands of women to reduce food waste, shop locally, eat less animal products and take many other simple actions to cut waste and pollution, resulting in huge carbon savings. 11 OUR VOICE 4 We use our collective voice to take a stand on the big climate challenges of our time and to fight for climate justice for women, girls and future generations. These campaigns are specific to Australia and each country could have their own. I M DECLARING THE REEF IN DANGER Our last campaign I'm Declaring the Reef in Danger gained 54,619 signatures and contributed to the Great Barrier Reef having an international spotlight shed on its chronic decline in health and its highly controversial, potential listing as World Heritage in Danger. Prof. Maria Böhmer, Chairperson, World Heritage Committee, UNESCO said, in her letter to us dated 14/08/15: "I would like to thank you for your role in this positive development and for your critical input." WOMEN UNITE FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE Our next campaign, Women Unite for Climate Justice, will gather the voices of women across Australia and beyond to put pressure on the Australian Government to send Julie Bishop (Foreign Minister) to Paris COP21 with a target that will keep Australia s emissions below 2 degrees celsius. As women committed to a zero carbon life we demand no less from our government MILLION WOMEN

Our 1 Million Women movement is over 300,000 women and girls. OUR IMPACT The social impact of what we do is enormous. We empower women (the key domestic decision makers) to change behaviour patterns. Women feel connected and inspired by being part of our movement and this has huge personal reward including increased happiness and wellbeing. We are a young organisation and proud that so far we have engaged and influenced millions of women and girls to embrace a way of life that treads lightly on our planet Through our Carbon Challenge, 100,000 women are pledging to save 160,000 tonnes of carbon pollution from their daily life. Our goal is to get that to a million women or more by ,000 women have come to one of our low carbon living events We have engaged tens of thousands of school girls through our youth program We have 100+ ambassadors. Women and girls from all walks of life inspiring those around them. 1 Million Women was chosen by the United Nations UNFCCC s Momentum for Change: Women for Results initiative as one of 6 women-led global initiatives highlighted at COP 19 in Warsaw MILLION WOMEN

OUR SOCIAL IMPACT: WE REACH MILLIONS OF WOMEN EVERY WEEK Over 221,000 website members, with our goal being to reach 1,000,000 members by 2017 through accelerating growth (milestone targets are 250,000 by the end of 2015 and 500,000 by the end of 2016). 86,000 women and girls have participated in our Carbon Challenge and have collectively pledged to save 150,961 tonnes of carbon so far Over 138,000 Facebook followers (with a weekly reach of 5-10 million, 350,000 engaged audience every week and 70,000 to 90,000 talking about us at any given moment). Over 12,000 followers on Twitter (with 3000 link clicks per month and 10,000 impressions a day) Our blog is viewed an average of 15,000 times a day We have over 100 Ambassadors, young, old and in between, who are passionate role models for 1 Million Women MILLION WOMEN

OUR NEXT 3 YEARS ON THE ROAD TO NET ZERO OUR ACTION PLAN FOR INDIVIDUALS AND HOUSEHOLDS TO TRANSITION TO A ZERO CARBON LIFE IF THE ENTIRE WORLD LIVED LIKE WE DO IN AUSTRALIA WE WOULD NEED 4 PLANETS TO SUSTAIN US ALL 23 1 MILLION WOMEN

HERE S HOW: IF A MILLION HOUSEHOLDS CUT 20% OF THEIR ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IT WOULD ALLOW THE SHUTTING DOWN OF 2 COAL FIRED POWER STATIONS HOUSEHOLD ACTION IS ESSENTIAL FOR COUNTRIES TO ACHIEVE STRONG CARBON TARGETS Our Net Zero model will incorporate: Developing a scalable new program called Women Power where we will help our members reduce their home electricity consumption by a minimum of 20% using a special App, and promote the uptake of clean energy opportunities. Our new Marketplace, which will showcase the best business and social enterprise offerings - via our Blog and social media assets - extending across all of our core focus areas, home energy, food, travel, shopping, sharing and money. Direct partnerships with compatible brands that share our mission for net zero carbon living. DEDICATED CAMPAIGN FOR NET ZERO LIVING We will press for everyday behaviour change as an absolute priority. In January 2016 we will launch a dedicated campaign showing our members how to transition to a zero carbon life. It will focus on carbon pollution reduction in the key areas of daily living and include energy efficiency, renewable energy options and offsetting. We are forging a growing range of strategic relationships in Australia and internationally with key individuals, research institutions, community groups, and brands and services that share our mission for a net zero carbon way of living. SHARING REAL EXPERIENCES OF LOW CARBON LIVING Story-telling breaks down the barriers to personal action and collective voice. We will inspire, empower and mobilise practical action through the sharing of personal stories. It's what we do best. The real and honest stories from women on their challenges, ideas and solutions for low carbon living are fundamental to the way we connect and promote change MILLION WOMEN

OUR SUSTAINABLE FUNDING MODEL This is an optional model that could be adapted in any country. We have made it scalable. Our model is that it is always free for women and girls to join 1 Million Women. We never want there to be a financial obstacle to joining our voice and accessing our practical information regarding low carbon living. 1 Million Women has historically been funded by a mix of government and philanthropic grants and corporate sponsorship. We have also expanded the funding sources to include peerto-peer fundraising through our established membership and a regular giving program. However in order to achieve our mission of having millions of women (and their households) around the world reducing their carbon output and heading towards a net zero life, we have been developing a long term sustainable funding strategy that we will role out in Australia in MILLION WOMEN

THE TWO KEY REVENUE STREAMS WE HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING ARE: OUR MARKETPLACE Best brands, products and services that share our mission for a net zero carbon economy and way of living will be able to advertise through our Marketplace. Our members constantly want us to provide them with low carbon options. Our Marketplace will help them transition to a carbon pollution-free lifestyle across our key focus areas of daily living. Our Marketplace will not only help them make sound purchasing decisions that saves carbon but in turn also provide 1 Million Women with the necessary funding to secure our small but efficient workforce. WOMEN POWER We see energy efficiency as one of the biggest areas where individuals and households can deliver real carbon savings. In 2016 we will launch Women Power, our scalable energy efficiency campaign. The core offering will be an innovative, hi-tech energy bill information analysis, tracking and reporting service that: OUR GOAL WITH BOTH THESE PROGRAMS IS TO NOT ONLY PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE FUNDING BUT TO ALSO PROVIDE A CLEAR PLAN FOR OUR MEMBERS TO REACH NET ZERO CARBON LIVING FOR PARTICIPANTS Provides individual participants with their own unique energy use profile covering electricity (and gas where relevant) that becomes more useful and valuable over time as their data accumulates. Participants will pay an annual subscription fee for an energy efficiency products and services discount package. They will be part of our 1 Million Women energy saving network with the minimum task of reducing their household energy use and therefore energy bill by 20%. FOR 1 MILLION WOMEN Aggregates collective data from participants to demonstrate the impact of Women Power. Via this data, Women Power/1 Million Women will be able to accurately measure energy consumption and report cumulative carbon emission reductions and other outcomes MILLION WOMEN

AN OPPORTUNITY Our Purpose is to build a global movement of women and girls cutting carbon pollution from our daily lives. We have built our presence in Australia and gained enough critical mass to be in a strong position to expand internationally. We are seeking partnerships with individuals or organisations that share in our vision and passion to take 1 Million Women to other countries or territories and grow this powerful movement. BEHAVIOUR CHANGE IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM YET HOW WE LIVE OUR DAILY LIVES IS ESSENTIAL TO FIGHTING THE CLIMATE CRISIS We invite any organisation, region or country that may be interested in starting up a 1 Million Women model to please contact us (we are currently working with DLA Piper INT, our probono international lawyers). Full details on our license/franchise agreement will be given on request but in summary: OUR INTERNATIONAL ASSETS AND IP: We will provide: Franchise license agreement. Licensed use of the 1MW Trade Marks subject to the terms outlined in our contract. Publicity, visibility, and marketing support to include all IP and logo and all brand digital files. Extensive training in all aspects of 1 Million Women. Access to any of our technical and content management support. As much support as we can give in the learnings already had in setting up 1 Million Women. All we have learnt is completely on offer to you. FRANCHISE LICENSE FEE WILL INCLUDE: An initial one off fee and a small annual license fee to be negotiated. The numbers add up. The more countries we have on board, the more women we engage in a low carbon way of living, and the more waste and pollution we stop from endangering the planet. As the world sets its course for net zero carbon and below 2 degrees Celsius of global warming, 1 Million Women is a crucial and tangible solution for individuals and households around the world. 31 MILLION WOMEN
