1 REV Application Nothing about youth, without youth! Who We Are: REVolution (REV) is a Youth Leadership Program from Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon (PPSO). REV is made up of a diverse student body from local schools. Members come to the group with different beliefs and viewpoints. No one is expected to already know about sexual health and prevention issues. We strive to create a community that is strong and varied in its membership and work actively to build a group that is anti-racist, anti-sexist, antihomophobic, and anti-transphobic. What we believe: REV understands that reproductive and sexual health and rights are not isolated. We believe in approaching these issues with intersectionality, recognizing that all forms of marginalization racism, classism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, ableism, etc. are connected to each other and connected to the way a person experiences oppression. We strive to acknowledge those connections, acknowledge privilege, acknowledge oppression, and fight for justice for all. What We Do: We meet weekly to create peer-to-peer dialogue and to increase our awareness and knowledge of sexual health and diversity. We act as youth educators in local middle schools and for local adults, including parents. We train medical students, doctors, and other health care providers about how to meet the sexual health needs of teen clients. We act as resources by sharing sexual health information with our friends and peers. We take on a leadership role in our community and push ourselves to work collaboratively towards shared goals. To be in REV you must: Be in 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, 12 th grade during the school year. Be responsible in budgeting time and keeping up with academic work. Commit to weekly meetings on Thursdays from 5-7:30pm. Be available for additional trainings and prep meetings as needed. Be able to attend the mandatory (free) overnight retreat in the Fall (dates TBA). Occasionally miss class time for REV presentations or activities. Take the commitment to REV seriously and plan other extra-curricular activities (work, clubs, sports, etc.) around REV. If you are doing more than one other extra-curricular activity, please ask yourself if you really have the time to commit to this program!

4 4. REV is a commitment. We expect you to participate a minimum of 10 hours/month (more when we are preparing for an event up to an additional 5 hours), which means attending all REV meetings and being available for extra prep time.
