1 Alcohol Substance Abuse Support in and around Cayuga County
2 At the time of printing, the meeting schedule was updated. However, times and meetings may have changed. Call the Syracuse Al-Anon Information Service Center for more information at (315) To add or remove meetings, or change a listing, please send the changes and contact information for confirmation to adickman@cayugahealthnetwork.org Cayuga Community Health Network 2119 W. Genesee Street Road Auburn, New York (315) FAX: (315) Partnering with: Congratulations on starting a new chapter in your life. Making a change and trying something new takes courage. It s important to remember that people and organizations are here to help you. Like when trying anything new, give yourself time to get used to the AA system. Don t give up. Whether the struggles are your own, or you are affected by someone else s drinking or drug use, you can find understanding and tools of the program to make life better. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who have drinking problems. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem. Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people who live with someone whose drinking created problems for them. Alateen meetings are for young people who have found themselves affected by someone s drinking. It may seem like an overwhelming step to take, but there are people to help. The AA system is designed to be run by participants. A key principle is confidentiality. This allows all participants the freedom to speak openly. Everything said at the meeting stays at the meeting. People can choose what to say, and when to share. Meetings conducted in churches are nondenominational, and participants don t have to be members of the church to attend. The Cayuga Community Health Network first published this book when it was recognized that there were a lot of people looking for help but weren t sure where to turn. With support from our partners, we ve been able to bring updated versions of this booklet to the community. This is printed using money from the Charles D. Cook Office of Rural Health. A special thank you to community advocate Timothy Donovan, the Cayuga County Health Department, Cayuga County Drug-Free Community Coalition, HEAL, and New York State Department of Health for contributing to this booklet.
