4 Safe Nest Core Services Safe Nest s mission is to be a leading advocate in ending domestic abuse through providing confidential and comprehensive services while promoting the highest respect and dignity for our clients. To fullfill its mission, Safe Nest focuses on our four core services: confidential shelter, counseling, advocacy, and prevention education. Confidential Shelter The confidential shelter provides emergency 24-hour intake, 24-hour hotline services including crisis intervention, 24-hour access to Emergency Protection Orders, case management, employment counseling, support groups, parenting training, child counseling, sobriety support, and life-skills classes, in addition to providing safety and basic needs for all clients. Counseling Counseling includes therapy programs conducted in Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite. Counseling is available for victims, perpetrators, children, and teens, with sessions conducted in both English and Spanish. Adolescent groups are offered for teens in abusive dating relationships, as well as for teens exhibiting violence in familial relationships. Children s counseling is conducted by professionals trained in play therapy. Grief counseling is available for those who have lost loved ones to domestic violence. Advocacy The advocacy program provides counselors both on-site and in the field to assist clients traversing the legal system. Advocates orient victims to legal processes; help prepare Victim Impact Statements; develop safety planning; conduct case management; provide referrals; accompany victims to court; and partner with attorneys, law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, Child Protective Services and other entities. Prevention The prevention education component provides dating violence prevention classes in Clark County schools, conflict resolution training for youth, mentoring programs for teens, information and resources for faith-based communities, culturally appropriate outreach to at-risk populations, and training for professionals who identify and refer victims.

Domestic violence is a pattern of violent and coercive behavior used by one person in a relationship to control another; it affects all communities, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or religion. Domestic violence takes multiple forms, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, financial control, and social isolation. It is a problem that impacts the safety and well-being of individuals, families, and communities throughout Southern Nevada. What is Safe Nest? Safe Nest:, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt agency. Safe Nest runs the only 24-hour confidential shelter in Las Vegas that operates with an undisclosed location for the safety of families fleeing abusive homes. Established in 1977, Safe Nest is the oldest and largest domestic violence program in Southern Nevada assisting clients to start over in a violence-free life. Safe Nest serves all of Greater Las Vegas, Mesquite, and rural Clark County. Besides hotline and shelter, Safe Nest provides counseling services conducted by Marriage and Family Therapists and licensed professionals. Other services include court advocacy, protection order assistance, public education, dating violence prevention, and advocacy in public policy issues. Who does Safe Nest serve?
