2 Professor Leonard Lambeth, Chief Civil and Forensic Psychiatrist, Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Directorate, Department of Health and Human Services Dr Len Lambeth began a career in mental health in 1963, qualifying as a Psychiatric Nurse in He then studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, qualifying in Internship and residency followed at the Royal Hobart Hospital and from 1978 to 1982, he was a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps with the rank of Major, serving for two years in Papua New Guinea. He then resigned his commission and became a Registrar in Psychiatry, obtaining his Fellowship in Len has held positions as the Director of Clinical Services in the Hunter Region and also worked in private practice, mostly dealing with veterans with trauma-related psychiatric illness. He was invited to become a consultant psychiatrist at Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Williamtown and in 1988 joined the RAAF Specialist Reserve. Len was appointed as Clinical Specialist (Psychiatry) at the Australian Centre for Post Traumatic Mental Health in 2001 and upon establishment of the Directorate of Mental Health by the Australian Defence Force, became the SO1 (Psychiatry). In 2005, he became Director of Mental Health for the Australian Defence Force, was promoted to Group Captain and embarked on two years full-time service in He officially retired from RAAF service in February Upon leaving full-time service, he joined Mental Health ACT where he was the Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services and Forensic Psychiatrist. He is frequently called upon to give expert evidence in court. He then became Clinical Director of Adult Services and Director of Forensic Psychiatry in the ACT, serving in this role until August 2013 when he resigned to take up the position of Chief Civil and Forensic Psychiatrist in Tasmania. He has also been appointed as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania. Len has served as a member of the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal, has lectured in Psychiatry at the University of Newcastle and the Australian National University, and has lectured in Aviation Medicine at the University of Newcastle. He has published, with Dr Maurice Sainsbury, a textbook of Psychiatry and has co-authored a number of reports for government on psychiatric services. He also has postgraduate qualifications in aviation medicine, forensic mental health and medical administration, is a qualified pilot and has consulted for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

3 Michael MacIsaac, BBiomed, MD Dr MacIsaac graduated from a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne in 2011 and then completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in Currently Michael works as an intern at St Vincent s Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria. During his time as a medical student, Michael developed an interest in public health and preventative medicine. This culminated in his undertaking a research project at the Coroner s Court of Victoria in his final year of medical school, in which he examined the prevalence and characteristics of interpersonal violence amongst people dying from suicide in Victoria. Sue Murray, CEO, Suicide Prevention Australia With a background in education and specialty in health promotion, Sue has been a passionate advocate for improving the health and wellbeing of the community throughout her career. She has more than 25 years experience in the community sector and has held positions with responsibility in education, media, communications, fundraising and organisational leadership. After 10 years leading the National Breast Cancer Foundation, where she positioned the organisation as one of the most highly recognised in the community sector and raised more than $100 million for breast cancer research, Sue moved to build on her experience to create the George Foundation for Global Health. Currently she is meeting the challenge of building community participation in suicide prevention as the CEO of Suicide Prevention Australia. Sue is a director of Good2Give, former Chair of Macquarie Community College and director of Research Australia, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of both the Advisory Council for the Centre for Social Impact and Chief Executive Women.

4 Keith Harris, Director, The Suicide Study Group, University of Queensland Keith has been active in suicide prevention efforts for over 10 years and in internet learning/behaviours for 20 years. After completing degrees in psychology in the USA, and working in computer-assisted language learning in Japan, he earned his PhD at the University of Queensland through studies on how suicidal people use the internet in relation to their suicidality. He has continued with that work and now has seven (and growing) publications on suicide and the internet. He also focuses on improving suicide risk/suicidality assessment, and developed the Suicidal Affect-Behavior-Cognition Scale. Keith created and directs the Suicide Study Group and aims to work with a great variety of dedicated individuals to better understand suicidality, the problems suicidal people face, and the best ways to heal their internal wounds. Cameron Blight, Workplace Health and Wellbeing Advisor, Worksafe Tasmania Cameron is a workplace health and wellbeing advisor, visiting workplaces across Tasmania to help provide structure and planning behind workplace health and wellbeing programs The service was established in 2011 with Worksafe partnering up with the Department of Health and Human Services to help deliver the Tasmanian Healthy Workers Initiative a joint Australian and State Government initiative as part of the National Preventative Health Partnership Agreement. As well as the free face-to-face advisory service there is also a resource toolkit. In collaboration with key partners, Cameron facilitates various events around the state, addressing key health, safety and wellbeing topics. The service also values key partnerships such as the one with beyondblue. Having studied a Bachelor of Applied Science Human Movement at RMIT in Melbourne, Cameron returned to Tasmania and started his own business as an exercise provider in 2002, operating out of the Hobart Police and Citizens Youth Club and packing the commodore station wagon weekly to deliver exercise classes along the East Coast of Tasmania. Cameron started in the corporate wellness space as a private provider in 2005 and has been enthusiastically involved in the industry since, working with many different organisations across a range of sectors and from all parts of Tasmania. He commenced his advisory role with Worksafe in August of 2011, and very much looks forward to continuing to build the program and helping to make healthy choices the easy choices for Tasmanian workplaces. According to Cameron, good health is good business. Earlier this year Cameron completed an advanced diploma in Work Health and Safety, furthering strengthening the links between health, safety and wellbeing.

5 Amy Reiner, Brown s Store Amy heads up a team of 80 staff at Brown s Store, Longford, and has done so now for many years. Over those years her understanding and approach to staff with mental illness has changed considerably. Amy has developed a workplace culture and practice that has had a positive and significant impact on her staff and workplace. Amy has sought and provided training and information for staff addressing mental health and suicide ideation. Last year Amy was the recipient of the Tasmanian LIFE Award in the Best Practice Business and Enterprise category. Amy will be conducting a workshop on workplace development. Eve Vincent, headspace School Support Eve is a social worker and has worked primarily in the field of mental health. She has worked in Indigenous Mental Health in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Eve has also volunteered in schools in Africa. She coordinates the Headspace School Support service in Tasmania which supports secondary schools to prepare for, respond to, and recover from suicide. Eve will be conducting a workshop titled Young People and Suicide with the assistance of the headspace Launceston and Cornerstone Youth Services Clinical Services Coordinator, Kate Brennan, and a young person from the Launceston headspace Youth Reference Group. Mark Watterson, Karadi Aboriginal Corporation Mark Watterson has 16 years of experience as a Family and Youth worker. He currently supports and mentors children and young people for Karadi Aboriginal Corporation. Mark is a passionate advocate for educational, cultural and social access to programs and services for the young people with whom he works. Such programs include upskilling in literacy; relationship building; sustainable living knowledge and practice (community vegetable gardens); and identifying and understanding cultural and family links to place and past. To support cultural identity and important links to community, Mark facilitates On Country visits for young people to Murrayfield on Bruny Island where all participate in activities aligned to time and place the past and present. Advocacy, mentoring, support and facilitation to equity and justice by Mark, of the children and young people with whom he engages, greatly assists the physical, emotional, social and mental health wellbeing of these most important young people.

6 The Launceston Human Library The Launceston Human Library is a simple community program that aims to create constructive personal dialogues between people who may not have the opportunity to meet. The experience will allow people to challenge common prejudices and stereotypes. Having prejudices can lead to stigmatizing groups or individuals and to discrimination, a harmful and random process that leads to social exclusion. As you enter a conversation with a Human Book at the Forum, do not avoid the most essential questions you wish to ask. Do ask kindly and accept that your preconceived ideas may become enriched by new personal learning. The Launceston Human Library works from the premise that Human Rights cannot be implemented through legal processes alone and it is attitudes that ultimately shape the world for future generations.
