Examination of social and cultural variables such as human development and behavior; use of knowledge in these areas by social work practitioners. SW General Social Work Practice III. Use of problem-solving process in practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities. SW 480 Indigenous Voices in Social Work. This course focuses on the perspective and voice of indigenous peoples, in their many roles as service providers, service recipients, and community members. Critical topics include past history and impact on indigenous peoples of various theories, research, policies and practices, and the extent to which these currently are experienced as valid and valuable in varied cultural contexts and places. SW Residential Treatment for Children and Adolescents. provides an overview of child and adolescent treatment with an in-depth analysis of residential treatment in its various forms including; shelter, foster home, group home, independent living, and psychiatric placement. The history of out-of-home placement in the United States and Hawaii serves as context for current practices and future residential model development.
