3 PRIZES Through the Plane Pull, you and your teammates can also raise money to provide mental health supports for young people in need by having people sponsor your pull! Youth mental health is one of United Way s four priority areas. All the money you and your teammates raise goes directly into the community, and also counts as part of your workplace campaign fundraising total. AND, by fundraising, you can get some very cool limited edition Plane Pull gear, plus have the chance to win some AMAZING prizes! HERE S WHAT YOU COULD WIN! If you fundraise a minimum of $50, it will score you a nifty portable phone charger! If you fundraise a minimum of $150, you ll get a cozy, super cool Plane Pull sweatshirt AND a phone charger! The Top Fundraising Individuals and the Top Fundraising Team will choose from a selection of super-duper prizes (stay tuned for prize updates)! You also have the chance to win a team prize by showing off your Team Spirit by preparing costumes and practicing a cheer. And of course if you are the strongest and fastest team of them all, you proudly walk away with bragging rights, the title of Team Steam and a prize for the entire team! To be eligible for a Plane Pull phone charger and/or sweatshirt, participants must raise the minimum amounts ($50+ or $150+ respectively). Phone chargers and/or sweatshirts will be distributed on September 15 at the event. To be eligible for Top Fundraising Team or Top Fundraising Individual prizes, all donations must be submitted online to United Way by Thursday, September 14 at 9pm. Donations will be accepted until Friday, September 22 at 4:00 pm.

4 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. WHEN CAN I REGISTER FOR PLANE PULL? Registration opens June 28th, Register now! 2. HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR PLANE PULL? a) Team Captain submits the registration form to United Way (events@unitedwaywinnipeg.mb.ca). b) Team Captain pays $300 registration fee. c) United Way creates an online fundraising page for each team and shares the login information with the Team Captain. d) Team Captain recruits 19 friends and co-workers to form a 20-person team and ensures every member signs the liability waiver. All waivers must be submitted to United Way at the event on Friday, September 15. e) Team Captain shares the online fundraising page with team members to begin fundraising for a chance to win prizes! Please see the Fundraising Tips page for ideas on how to start. 3. IS THERE A REGISTRATION FEE TO PARTICIPATE? Yes, there is a $300 registration fee per team (only $15 per person!) which includes lunch, a chance to win some incredible prizes and the opportunity to brag that you pulled a 80,000+ lb plane. 4. WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY RAISED GO? The money you fundraise for Plane Pull will count directly towards your workplace campaign s fundraising total for Your dollars will stay right here in Winnipeg, providing mental health supports for young people. Youth mental health is one of United Way s four priority areas, and all money you and your teammates raise goes directly into the community AND counts as part of your workplace campaign. 5. CAN TEAMS SELECT THEIR PULL TIME? Yes! Choose between morning & afternoon wave! Pull times are fulfilled on a first come, first served basis as teams register. We will do our best to accommodate requests. We hope all teams will be able to attend the full event, enjoy lunch and experience all the excitement that Plane Pull has to offer.

5 FUNDRAISING TIPS 1. BE A LEADER Before asking your peers, donate yourself! Once your friends, family, and colleagues see your commitment to the cause, they will be inspired to support you. 2. PERSONALIZE YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE Tell sponsors why you re pulling! Share a photo and your personal story why did you sign up for Plane Pull? When you share the link to your page with sponsors, they ll see how you re helping make a difference for our city. 3. GET SOCIAL AND REACH OUT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS Share your personal fundraising page on social media by logging in and selecting the Get Sponsors page under Fundraising. Scroll down and click on any of your preferred social media icons in the Get Social section. Doing so will connect with your personal social media accounts and you can use the pre-written message provided or write your own. Your personal fundraising page will automatically link with the message as soon as you post it. 5. START A FRIENDLY COMPETITION You and your team are at your best when you are all working together to reach the first-class title of Top Fundraising Team. Set individual fundraising goals with your co-workers and challenge each other to be the first to meet (and exceed!) your own. 6. SHARE YOUR GOAL Set a realistic fundraising goal and talk about it! By sharing your progress as you go, most sponsors will donate more if they know you are close to reaching your goal. 7. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO GET REAL-TIME EVENT UPDATES Check out our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram accounts to get real-time updates on the event. We want to hear from you, too! Share your fundraising advice and let us know how you re building up your strength to pull a 80,000+ lb plane. Write on our Facebook wall or use the hashtag #PullingForThePeg. 4. CONNECT WITH POTENTIAL SPONSORS USING From your Get Sponsors page under Fundraising, you can send an including the link to your personal fundraising page to potential sponsors. You ll find a pre-written message that you can choose to use, or you can write your own personal message.

6 UNITED WAY PARTICIPANT RELEASE AND WAIVER Name of participant: Age: WAIVER OF LIABILITY United Way Winnipeg ( United Way ) has organized and will run the 2017 Plane Pull for United Way (the Event ) on Friday, September 15, The Event involves participants pulling either a Lockheed C-130 Hercules or Boeing 727 airplane. I know the Event involves physical activity and I voluntarily assume the risk of participating in the Event. In return for my being permitted to participate in the Event, I agree to the terms of this release and waiver of liability (the Release ). I agree to this Release on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns (the Releasors ). According to the terms below, the Releasors release all of the following parties, which together are referred to as the Released Parties : (a) United Way and its officers, employees, servants, directors, members, volunteers, insurers, and Board of Trustees; (b) United Way s agents, sponsors, and organizers for this event including their officers, employees, servants, directors, members, volunteers, and insurers; and (c) any other person or organization assisting in the Event. I agree that the Releasors will make no demand or claim against the Released Parties for death, injury, damages, or loss ( Damage ) related in any way to the Event that I suffer before, during, or after the Event, whether as a spectator or participant in the Event and no matter how the Damage occurs or who causes the Damage. I also agree that this Release will be effective even if one or more of the Released Parties causes or contributes to the Damage by fault or negligence. I agree that the Releasors will make no demand or claim against any other person who could claim against the Released Parties for the matters this Release covers. I also agree that the Releasors will indemnify the Released Parties against any claims, demands, or costs connected with any Damage others or I suffer arising from my participation in the Event, even if one or more of the Released Parties causes or contributes to the damage by fault or negligence. I understand that the party receiving this release receives it on behalf of every Released Party and that United Way s permission for me to participate in the Event is given by each Released Party in return for this Release. PHOTO, VIDEO, AUDIO, FILM, INTERVIEW RELEASE I give United Way permission to take and publish photographs, videotapes, audiotapes, films, and interviews of me and / or the child / children named below for current and future use in United Way materials, including marketing and promotional materials and United Way s official website. The photographs (including negatives), tapes and other materials will belong only to United Way. Only United Way and persons it has authorized may reproduce the materials without compensating me, the child / children named below, or any of the other Releasors.

7 RELEASE AND INDEMNITY The undersigned, in consideration of being permitted to participate in the United Way Plane Pull, and in connection therewith being permitted to enter upon the lands and premises surrounding 2280 Saskatchewan Avenue in the City of Winnipeg, Friday, September 15, (a) do hereby unconditionally remise, release and forever discharge Red River College Stevenson Campus Aviation & Aerospace Training Centre, (collectively the Entities ) and their officers, employees, servants and agents (collectively the Representatives ), and each of them from and against any and all losses, claims, actions, damages, costs, liabilities, expenses and demands whatsoever (collectively the Claims ) for death, personal injury, damage or loss to property and any and all other loss or injury, including, without limitation, economic loss or consequential damages (collectively Damages ), suffered by the undersigned arising howsoever from or out of my participation in this event, entering 2280 Saskatchewan Avenue or upon its surrounding lands and premises, whether occasioned, wholly or in part, by any act or omission, whether negligent or otherwise, including without limitation, gross negligence, on the part of any one or more of the Entities or Representatives; and (b) shall indemnify and save harmless the Entities and the Representatives and each of them from and against any and all Claims for any and all Damages suffered by the undersigned and/or any other person or persons arising howsoever from or out of my participation in this event, entering into 2280 Saskatchewan Avenue or upon its surrounding lands and premises, whether occasioned, wholly or in part, by any act or omission whether negligent or otherwise, including without limitation, gross negligence, on the part of any one or more of the Entities or Representatives. The undersigned acknowledges and agrees that this Release and Indemnity shall be binding on the undersigned and my heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns and shall ensure to the benefit of the Entities and the Representatives and their respective heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns. It is UNDERSTOOD that the party receiving this Release and Indemnity does so on behalf of each and every person and class of persons so released and indemnified and that the said permission is given or shall be deemed to have been given by each such person and class of persons as consideration for my release. On this day of (month), (year), I have read (have had read to me) this Release and Indemnity, fully understand its terms and agree therewith. In the meantime, here are a few tips for Team Captains: Start early and set goals and deadlines for your team s fundraising efforts. Being a Team Captain is hard work! Identify a co-captain who can assist you in motivating your team to attain its goals. Share your story, tell people why you are participating in Plane Pull and supporting United Way Winnipeg. Spread the word! Forward the link to your Team Fundraising Page where supporters can learn about your team, United Way Winnipeg, and Plane Pull. Put an article or post in your company newsletter. Report on your team, list members names, how their hard work is helping support United Way Winnipeg, and offer an opportunity to sponsor your efforts through donating.
