1 Scotland Awards Number of Awards:50 Total amount awarded: 9,603,294 Organisation Local Authority Award Project summary Angus Independent Advocacy Angus 301,296 This grant will be used to continue and develop the organisation's existing Citizen Advocacy project in Angus. This project works with older people and adults over 26 who are at risk of being unable to safeguard their rights because of mental ill health, a learning disability, dementia or an acquired brain injury. A development worker and senior development worker will work across Angus to identify isolated and vulnerable people who would benefit from the project, and volunteers to become citizen advocates. St Andrews Church Abroath (Havilah Project) Angus 150,000 This funding will be used to continue the church s successful three-hours-a-day, five-days-a-week drop-in service open to anyone who needs it. It offers food and drink tea, coffee, biscuits, soup and lunches between 12pm and 3pm. Havilah operates from Community Spirit, the community outreach venture of St Andrew s close to the church premises in Arbroath. The church will help those suffering from isolation and challenging life circumstances. HELP (Argyll and Bute) Limited Argyll and Bute 499,081 This funding will allow the organisation to continue its work with year olds from the Cowal Peninsula and the Isle of Bute who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or are coming out of care. Young people are referred to HELP by a number of organisations or via self-referral. The young people will have the chance to take part in a range of activities to develop skills and to increase their confidence to engage in their local community. Caring In Craigmillar City of Edinburgh 145,274 This group will use the funding for a series of activities and social events for older people living with dementia. The funding will also enable the group to offer a more dementia-friendly service for the older people it works with. CIC will employ specialist dementia workers who will design the programme of activities to better understand the needs of people with dementia and meet the demand for the service within Craigmillar and some surrounding communities. 2 Health All Round City of Edinburgh 53,353 This group will employ a Befriending/Development Worker to support older people in South West Edinburgh so that they can integrate more into community life. The group will address issues of isolation and loneliness by promoting positive contact between local people of different generations. The Worker will be responsible for running a range of activities and managing a group of volunteer befrienders. The Health Agency City of Edinburgh 150,000 This funding will be used to continue the group's support project for people with a diagnosis of cancer or other life limiting illness, and their families. The project provides practical, emotional and social support, complementary therapies and a befriending service. Those with a diagnosis, undergoing treatment, in recovery, or receiving palliative care will have access to a number of specialist counselling sessions. The Sorted Project City of Edinburgh 496,543 This project will build on the group s current once-weekly canal boat based activity for people in recovery with addiction history and associated mental health problems. The activity will be delivered in Edinburgh, Falkirk and other locations in West Lothian and the Forth Valley. The group will be able to buy a custom equipped wide beam and accessible canal boat, capable of serving 35 people at a time that will be used on a daily basis to meet a need for 'post-treatment' recovery support. WHALE, Arts Agency City of Edinburgh 148,766 This grant will be used by the group to run a range of creative activities for people living in the Wester Hailes area. The organisation will run a programme of outreach work within the seven neighbourhoods of Wester Hailes so the community can shape and then build on arts-based ideas for the spaces they live in. This initiative will lead towards the delivery of a year of local events and activities in 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wester Hailes. Clackmannan Development Trust Clackmannanshire 149,995 This trust will use the funding to continue to employ their Community Development Officer and to introduce a new post of Finance Administrator. This will enable the Trust to build capacity as it works on projects under their Community Action Plan to build community cohesion, volunteer development, employability opportunities as well as supporting the improved health and wellbeing of the community, which is affected by the closure of Longannet Power Station. Play Alloa Clackmannanshire 149,627 This group will use the funding to run social and play activities for children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs. The activities are specifically designed to give young people and adults the ability to develop their skills and improve their lives. The proposed activities will consist of a youth club, a befriending service, a life skills day and youth volunteering. Reachout with Arts in Mind Clackmannanshire 148,409 This group will support people experiencing mental ill health, learning difficulties and physical difficulties through an Expressive Arts programme. The programme will be delivered in tandem with Integrated Mental Health/Adult/Youth Services who will provide accessible creative opportunities, confidence building workshops, and 1:1 practical and emotional support. People taking part will also be able to develop and work in a community garden, and sell and exhibit their work at local community events. Kirkcudbright Development Trust The Glenkens Community and Arts Trust Limited Dumfries and Galloway Dumfries and Galloway 850,000 This project will redevelop a disused former primary school in the town of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. The project will see the former Johnston School, a Victorian single-level primary school with a small 1930s extension and substantial outdoor space, converted into a new community hub, a childcare centre, a tourist attraction, micro-business units, and a base for local emergency services. 148,772 This trust will use the grant to provide a range of activities and services, and offer volunteer opportunities for people living in the villages of New Galloway, Dalry and Balmaclellan which are located within a three-mile radius of each other. The opportunities are open to all but will target older people, carers, disabled people and low income families. Page 2 of 6

3 Caledonia Housing Association Dundee City 149,788 This group's Volunteering and Befriending programme will continue and expand their existing activities and befriending work to help reduce isolation and loneliness amongst older people. A variety of activities are delivered in Caledonia Housing Association properties such as IT work, knitting groups or lunch clubs. Presently there are 23 separate groups involved across Dundee and Fife, the expanded delivery will create groups in Perth and Kinross, and Angus. Partners For Inclusion East Ayrshire 148,872 This group's dm2 Ayrshire initiative will increase social opportunities offered to people with disabilities by delivering a series of events within South, North and East Ayrshire. The group will work to encourage more of their members to build their own peer/social groups through recreational and educational activities, with a long term view of becoming a mentor to others. East Lothian Special Needs Playscheme East Lothian 122,399 This funding will be used to run a specialist playscheme for children aged 5-16 with severe and complex needs. The scheme will operate for one week at Easter and a further four weeks during the summer holiday, and will work with 40 local children. Caraidean Uibhist Eilean Siar 50,000 This group will use the funding to run their befriending programme for people from the Uist community, who are over the age of fifty. Sixty people will be involved in a programme of activities, with fifty people volunteering. YMCA Glenrothes Fife 147,354 This group will support 300 homeless people and 36 volunteers at The Y Social Skills Academy through in-house training and learning opportunities, to help increase independence and self-esteem. The support will be mainly provided to young people aged 16 years to 30 years old with some provision for older participants. 3D Drumchapel Glasgow City 147,852 This group will use the funding to continue their perinatal family support programme. The programme provides a variety of courses, workshops, 1:1 sessions, support groups and a buddy system to help expectant parents through to one year postbirth. Families will be facing challenging circumstances and may also be isolated from family or community support. Annexe Communities Glasgow City 141,291 This group will use the funding to deliver new and additional services targeted at older people, people with mobility or restricted access needs, those with long term conditions, and for people experiencing isolation and loneliness. The need to do something for these specific groups was identified by the local community who wanted to ensure that they were not excluded and could also benefit from all the various activities run by Annexe Communities. Ardenglen Social Committee Glasgow City 145,740 This association provides a range of activities for the local community operating out of the Maureen Cope Community Hall. Activities include gardening, sewing, IT/Digital, cookery, intergenerational groups, men's groups, women s groups, first aid sessions, a support group for lone parents, and activities that encourage the use of English if it is the participant s second language. Cassiltoun Housing Association Glasgow City 139,217 This association will bring the community together in Castlemilk, Glasgow through the provision of a range of community activities. A community development officer will facilitate the activities by engaging with local people to support the establishment of new groups, as well as carrying out community capacity building and networking with other organisations. Epilepsy Connections Glasgow City 149,425 This group will use the funding to provide a programme of support for adults with epilepsy. The group will offer a variety of activities to participants focusing on self-management, health, wellbeing and education. Activities will bring positive lasting changes as people will feel more in control of their lives, and more confident in accessing community services and activities. Page 3 of 6

4 Linkes (SCIO) Glasgow City 150,000 This group will use the funding to continue the delivery of a number of community led services and activities designed to improve local people's lives through access to continuous development, education and volunteering. The courses are free of charge and will be delivered from the locally based community rooms with a crèche facility provided. Maryhill Mobile Children's Services Glasgow City 95,750 This group will use the funding to support vulnerable families and help improve their lives by offering positive, practical and emotional support. Children aged 0 3 years will be provided with 2 12 hours free childcare so that their parents will be able to attend meetings and appointments with GPs and support workers, or spend time with other siblings. Moogety Foods Ltd Glasgow City 146,988 This programme will bring the community together through a variety of activities which focus on growing, cooking and eating healthy food. The organisation currently runs a food hub, greengrocers and two community gardens from which local people can learn about and share healthy food. A micro bakery will be established providing further opportunities for people to come together for volunteering and learning. MsMissMrs CIC Glasgow City 108,091 This group will run a programme of self-awareness training for women and girls who have experienced a difficult life journey. Activities will be delivered through the Get S.E.T training (Self-Empowerment Training) programme which has been designed to offer practical strategies and life-enhancing tools for woman and girls who find it difficult to self-care due to low self-esteem. Noble Arts Amateur Boxing Club Glasgow City 94,660 This group supports the community in Nitshill, Priesthill and Househillwood by providing a range of community activities based around Levernwood Hall (a former community centre) in Nitshill, Glasgow. The group will use the funding to recruit a coordinator develop activities for the wider community and to link with local projects and services. The club will also refurbish the hall to make improvements to the toilet facilities and to repair a leaking window. Second Chance Project Scotland Glasgow City 150,000 This group project is aimed at year olds with a range of addiction issues. The group will use the funding for activities such as addiction therapy and job coaching, which is aimed at improving the lives of participants, helping them to achieve and then maintain abstinence from alcohol and drugs. Speak Out Scotland Glasgow City 146,595 This project will support men who have experienced childhood sexual abuse in Glasgow, Edinburgh and North Lanarkshire. It will do this through the provision of unlimited one to one counselling, a support group, advocacy, training for organisations and an information line. It will also provide training for other agencies and organisations to inform and educate partners of the impact of childhood sexual abuse. The Terrence Higgins Trust Glasgow City 472,176 This group will use the funding to continue their support for people living with blood borne viruses, HIV/Hepatitis C (PLBBV) by providing a holistic package of support. Activities will be co-delivered by staff and peer mentors, and will include 1:1 sessions along with a variety of group workshops focusing on social and emotional wellbeing. Peer mentors with lived experience will receive training to help support participants with attending appointments and social activities. West of Scotland Housing Association Limited Glasgow City 146,516 This group will expand their existing community activities as well as introduce new activities for residents of Camlachie, Parkhead and Dalmarnock. Activities include expanding both the Family Meal and Homework Clubs from two to five clubs, increasing the range and content of the summer holiday programme, and increasing access for people of all abilities to the local Tea Dances. WEvolution Glasgow City 450,000 This project will allow the group to establish 75 new Self Reliant Groups (SRGs) involving 375 people in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and Dundee. SRGs are a community of people who encourage each other, save small amounts of money, learn new skills and create products and services. Page 4 of 6

5 Whiteinch Transformation Glasgow City 86,610 This group will use the funding to support two groups: i) Adults who have had adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and/or are survivors of abuse or rape, and ii) children and young people and families currently experiencing challenging circumstances. The primary focus will be on helping adult survivors regain control over their own lives. The second aspect of the activity will develop the Healing for the Heart s programme for children helping them address social, emotional and behavioural issues. With Kids Glasgow City 489,860 This funding will develop and expand the activity the group already offers which provides three strands of intervention: i) an early intervention therapeutic service that supports vulnerable children and their families in very stressful situations, both emotionally and practically, ii) to work within the community to raise aspirations for the children in the area and iii) collaborate with other professionals in order to enhance their understanding of the positive impact of play therapy on children. Merkinch Partnership Ltd Highland 148,845 This funding will be used to provide local people with new opportunities for socialising, learning and taking part in activities which help address issues of social isolation and deprivation. The activities will be aimed at people living in Merkinch who are lonely, socially isolated, are experiencing poor health, and have other barriers preventing them from improving their situation. The activities will be led by a steering group of local people who have identified these issues and want to do something about it. West Glenmoriston Community Company LANDED Peer Education Service Love n Light Recovery Organisation Highland 16,259 This group will use the funding to sustain and expand their community initiatives within Glen Moriston. The group will deliver a variety of activities, workshops and events to people from the local area. North Lanarkshire 81,491 This group will use the funding for a volunteer development programme which will engage with young people from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds, and those marginalised from mainstream society. The project will recruit, train and support vulnerable young people to become volunteer peer educators and mentors. North Lanarkshire 75,000 This project will support families affected by alcoholism and addiction in North Lanarkshire. People will have access to a range of advice and links to other networks, as well as people in a similar situation who will be able to help them Peeblesshire Youth Trust Scottish Borders 97,000 This trust delivers a mentor focused programme to provide support for primary aged children who have been identified as having low self-esteem, who lack confidence and are at risk of making bad decisions within the Peebles area. The funding will allow the group to enhance and continue delivering a package of support, underpinned by mentoring, to 150 young people within the nine primary schools in the area. Fair Isle Electricity Company Ltd Shetland Islands 600,000 This company will install a new renewable energy system on the island to provide a reliable 24 hour power supply. This will improve the sustainability of the community through improved economic opportunities and reduced environmental impact. As well as providing a 24hr supply of electricity the project will provide an additional domestic load including the potential for new houses to be added to the system. Mind Your Head Shetland Islands 149,235 This funding will be used to support adults 18 years and over living in the Shetlands experiencing mental ill health and wellbeing issues. People will be able to access a range of support services aimed at improving their mental wellbeing as well as developing/improving their resilience and coping mechanism. Activities will include one to one support and a planned programme of activities including walking, dog walking, baking and cookery. Blameless SCIO South Lanarkshire 50,000 This group will use the funding to deliver a holistic family support service for families affected by drug and alcohol addiction, this will include running a monthly activity programme and peer mentoring schemes. Community Links (South Lanarkshire) South Lanarkshire 100,000 This group will use the funding for an existing Community Development Worker, who has established relationships with the communities of Burnbank, Udston and Hillhouse. The project will increase the number and range of volunteer-led activities run from the Community Hub at the Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre. Page 5 of 6

6 Lanarkshire Epilepsy Support Group Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre South Lanarkshire 89,852 This funding will be used to support the group's network for people and families affected by epilepsy living in Lanarkshire. Funded activities will build on work already carried out and will establish small local peer support groups in conjunction with running events and organising group meetings. South Lanarkshire 279,874 This organisation will use the funding to develop and expand their activity SHiFT Strength, Hope, Future, Transition. The activity targets women and girls aged over 12, from North and South Lanarkshire, who have experienced rape and/or any other form of sexual abuse, providing an individually tailored support package. As well as improving existing service provision the organisation will work with those from harder to reach backgrounds. Larkhall Community Growers South Lanarkshire 108,563 This group will use the funding to deliver community development work through garden based and other community activities in Larkhall. The group will build their volunteer base to enable more sites in the area to be utilised including their Harlesshill sites. Regen: FX Youth Trust South Lanarkshire 99,992 This organisation will develop The Street project and expand their current activities targeting vulnerable young people aged years old, from a seasonal 6 month programme to a full year round programme. This will allow the organisation to increase its reach and effectiveness throughout the year by having a dedicated youth worker who can work with the young people on an ongoing basis, to help them overcome barriers and issues which may be preventing them from pursuing positive pathways in life. Tullochan West Dunbartonshire 287,141 This funding will be used to continue the existing Tullochan Futures project which supports young people aged 16 to 24 years old who are experiencing complex challenges. The group will work with young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds that have led to disengagement from school, training, education and employment. The Improvement Service West Lothian 149,742 This project will provide strategic support to approximately 30 individuals in eight Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse Recovery (CEDAR) projects that have already received money from the Big Lottery Fund. This will result in improvement plans being put in place to deliver improved outcomes for children and young people affected by domestic abuse. Page 6 of 6
