8 What is advocacy? Advocacy: the act of pleading or arguing in favor of something, such as a cause, idea, or policy; active support. Health advocacy: the act of pleading or arguing in favor of policies or programs that support health. 8

9 Why advocate? You are an expert. You are a constituent. Policymakers value your opinions. You can shape the process. 9

16 Elevator Speech Practice Fear of liability shouldn t stand in the way of helping our children lead active lives. But in too many cases, that s exactly what happens: schools keep their doors locked for fear that they ll be liable for potential injuries or facility damage. Ohio lawmakers can clarify liability laws to give our schools peace of mind. By supporting HB 290, we can make that happen. 16
