Steps to make it easier: Circle of Friends Ongoing support from Service Providers More access to resources Point person in peer group How to appeal Landlord decision Visual signage vs language signage Identify under served populations o Sex Offenders o Homeless o Refugees Landlord Education Criminal History Policy Co signers for Felons Agency Reimbursement of damages o Landlord Pool o Second chance renters rehabilitation Guarantor Letter of backing Double deposit Accountability program and education Let out of Lease Talk to landlord about resolution Someone to call to help w/problems Language Line Follow up education after 8 months If the residents don t have jobs at the end of 8 months move them out. Incentive program to provide interpreters/translators If there is a bad apple help us get them out. Job Placement programs. Tomlinson? Hire residents to clean/maintenance work. Problems that happen after the tenant has already moved in can be helped by partnerships with the following: o Fair Housing o Legal Aid o Damage claim fund o Ready to rent program o Termination of CATCH program 2

Incentive Fund can be used for: Damage Claim Fund Life Skills Training Legal Costs Communication o Interpreters o Translator Services How to be a good tenant education Coordination of resources for Landlords/tenants Educate Housing providers w/resource guide Double deposit One resource for landlord/tenant resolutions (mediator) Assign a percentage of units to use for special situations For landlords having difficulty w/residents have a peer train the group. Landlords get funds to train residents for job placement within apartment units. (painting, cleaning, landscape, maintenance, etc.) Positive incentive program to follow the rules within apartment complex. Wrap up 1:25 1:30 Closing & Next Steps Beth Geagan Report back from tables 1:30 1:50 o 5 minutes per table Evaluation 1:50 2:00 o Value The meeting was well received by all in attendance as great information and everyone was very excited about the use of an incentive fund. o Meetings There were 29 in attendance. 13 providers, 13 landlords and Jim, Beth and Suzanna. Future meetings need to have representation from Fair Housing as well as Legal Aid in attendance. o Frequency Quarterly or every 3 months See Appendix for Session Facilitation, Agreements, Group Discussion and Contacts. 3
