Our approach has earned us a strong base of loyal customers, so contact us today. premium soil and livestock nutrition products

3 Why minerals are so important Minerals and trace minerals are needed year round by livestock for optimum production, health and fertility. The broad spectrum of minerals and trace minerals are directly linked to metabolism and are essential for the utilisation of energy and protein. There is an obvious need to supplement livestock to maintain condition or avoid losses during winter and dry conditions. Not so obvious are the clinical or sub-clinical mineral deficiencies that can restrict animal performance during good seasons or periods of lush pasture growth. Minerals can not be synthesised within animals, so providing livestock with adequate minerals can increase daily weight gain, body condition scores, and the feed efficiency in livestock during seasonal changes, on both native and improved pastures. premium soil and livestock nutrition products

4 Proven Research conducted by Dr Lewis Kahn at the University of New England has revealed that MegaMin supplements provide a safe, economical and effective alternative for both pasture and grain-fed livestock. Dry feed utilisation no urea Safe The formal trials showed that MegaMin provides a safe alternative to the use of Urea for winter and drought feeding. Feedback from farmers has supported this research with some of the reported benefits of supplementing with MegaMin including improved utilisation of low quality feeds, reduced grazing pressure, improved conception rates and enhanced animal health. Effective Over the course of the 113-day simulated drought trial, all cattle lost weight, however the animals that were fed MegaMin had the lowest overall weight loss. The average weight loss for cattle supplemented with Urea was 15kg, while those supplemented with MegaMin lost only 6.1kg... a difference of almost 9kg per beast. Economical The results of these trials clearly confirmed that MegaMin can assist to reduce weight loss during dry conditions. With relatively low recommended daily intake, the cost per head per day was less, making MegaMin a SAFE, economical, effective and commercially viable alternative to the use of Urea during drought conditions. Grain feeding acidosis buffer Safe The research at the University of New England also showed that MegaMin was a natural alternative to the antibiotic Eskalin and ionophore Rumensin, in regards to acidosis buffering. These two products are commonly used for acidosis prevention in grain rations. Effective The research indicated that the use of MegaMin provided equivalent animal health protection and growth performance compared to Eskalin and Rumensin. No evidence of acidosis or any animal health problems were reported during the trials. Economical Trials indicated an overall lower cost and slightly increased daily weight gain for cattle fed MegaMin as compared to Eskalin and Rumensin. Coupled with the fact that no animals fed MegaMin were discounted during slaughter due to dark muscle colour, these results indicate that the use of MegaMin is of commercial importance. maximise the potential of your livestock

5 Benefits of minerals Major minerals are those needed by the animal in larger amounts such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulphur and sodium. Trace minerals are those needed in smaller amounts including zinc, copper, iron, manganese, cobalt, iodine and selenium. Major minerals Calcium Skeletal growth and teeth formation Phosphorus Bone development; critical in return to oestrus and rebreeding Magnesium Fat and carbohydrate metabolism and helps prevent grass tetany Sulphur Formation of amino acids and digestion of roughage/forage sorghum Trace minerals Cobalt Required by ruminal microbes to synthesise vitamin B12 Copper Deficiency leads to poor performance; poor coats; low resistance to disease Iodine Growth and metabolism Manganese Bone development; optimisation of reproductive efficiency (females) Zinc Activates enzyme systems; immune system; hoof health; fertility (males) Selenium Reproduction and immune functions To benefit from the full nutritional value of any one mineral, adequate quantities of all other minerals must also be available. For example, phosphorus absorption is affected by calcium, sulphur, manganese and copper. MegaMin products contain the broad spectrum of minerals and trace minerals.
