2 Applications WoundClot is used extensively in a variety of surgical procedures. The following illustrates WoundClot s vast usage in orthopedic procedures performed by leading physicians worldwide. Total hip replacement Left leg tumor removal Orthopedic Oncology Department Sorasky Medical Center Tel Aviv, Israel Dr. Segal Ortal Arrow indicate WoundColt placement L4-L5 spinal fusion German Trails i Pujol Badalone- Barcellona, Spain Dr. Rimbar According Dr. Gregory Martin, Medical Director at the Orthopedic Institute at JFK Medical Center in New York City, total knee arthroplasty is one of the most commonly performed orthopedic procedures. As of 2010, over 600,000 total knee replacements were being performed annually in the United States. The number of total knee replacements performed annually in the US is expected to grow by 673 percent to 3.48 million procedures by Metatarsal fracture repair Division of Orthopedics Sourasky Medical Center Tel Aviv, Israel Dr. Zvi Cohen WHAT'S NEW IN WOUNDCLOT ORTHOPEDIC APPLICATIONS? 3 WoundClot In Action WOUNDCLOT TRAUMA First responders in the line of duty typically have just one opportunity to save a life. No repeats, no do-overs, and no second chances. Stakes are high and even a minor mistake or a miscalculation poses severe consequences. Using WoundClot requires developing some new habits of application while placing the care givers faith in what naturally seems illogical in patient treatment, such as noncompressional application and the effectiveness in extremely severe injuries. We are often asked by caregivers - is it worth it? Here is our answer: The success factor for first responders depend on several variants. The severity of the injury, its location, having a clear path to the bleeding source, a clinical capability to compress on it, effectiveness of the treatment and/ or the time it takes to stabilize the patient, his clinical state (shock, hypo-thermia, coagulopathy, etc.) and last, the time it takes to bring the patient to a facility with higher level of treatment. All these aspects are highly influenced by the level of expertise and experience the care giver has.

4 WoundClot In Action To those we need to add also variants that are not necessarily clinical, such as the number of injured patients in the scene or the number of injuries in a patient and also the risk factors to the care giver himself, such as fires, explosions, etc. We at Core Scientific Creations define improving patient survivability by the ability to increase the patient s odds in the following aspects: Ability to treat all (including arterial) types of bleeding. Being effective in all areas of injury (NON-COMPRESSIONAL APPLICATION) including head, soft tissue, central nervous system, complex wounds etc. No potential disruption of second stage medical treatment. WoundClot is molecularly structured to overcome some inherent technological limitations other hemostats suffer from today with the main one being Bio-Absorbability yet extremely efficient treating severe bleeding. Non-Compressional application using applied physics principals to utilize the blood flow and pressure, to attach itself to the injured vessel. Shorter application time once placed correctly, self-adheres. Safer application no pressure required Provides care givers more time to treat multiple patients. Promotes coagulation on the bleeding vessel (at least 50% quicker to achieve coagulation) Class 3 approved for internal use We are certain that the use of WoundClot will increase the odds of every patient in almost any situation. Such was the experience of Israeli police department senior paramedic Nehorai Skornik who was the first responder in a

5 WoundClot In Action terror attack scene in Jerusalem back in September of He arrived at a scene where two Israeli police border patrol officers were stabbed, one in the Carotid artery and another with a knife stuck in his spine just below the head. The two were severely bleeding and were minutes away from a catastrophic outcome. Paramedic Skornik started working on the Carotid injury, which normally requires constant focused presser until the patient reaches the hospital. He took his WoundClot 8-100cm trauma gauze in his pack, tore a 20cm piece and placed it into the knife cut onto the artery. He placed his hand gently over the wound administrating no presser, but making sure the product is in place during activation. 47 seconds later, Paramedic Skornik reported, the bleeding has stopped! He then turned to treat the second injured officer following the same procedure. Both patients arrived at the hospital stable, with no bleeding and lived to thank their care giver. It was later revealed that the tip of the knife had lodged into the victim s neck. Applying pressure to the wound would have certainly led to a catastrophic outcome. Sadly, Paramedic Skornik and many other care givers have had to use WoundClot in terror scenes since, and their faith in WoundClot s abilities increases with each use.

6 New Products WOUNDCLOT OTC DAILY USE Core Scientific Creations is proud to announce the expansion of our portfolio with the introduction of WoundClot over the counter (OTC) line of products.
