2 Research Experience McGill University, Dept. of Ophthalmology Advisor: Dr. R.F. Hess (2003 present) Investigation to determine the extent at which the cortical fmri response to images is driven by contours, texture or sparseness. Collaborator: Dr. S.C. Dakin, University College London, UK. MEG is used to elucidate the site of binocular rivalry. Collaborator: Dr. G.R. Barnes, Aston University, UK. FMRI and retinotopic mapping methods are used to probe abnormal visual organization in amblyopic subjects and epileptic patients with polymicrogyria in the occipital lobe. Collaborator: Dr. A. Bernasconi, McGill University, Canada. Neuropsychological investigation of motion mechanisms using brain lesioned subjects. Collaborator: Dr. L.M. Vaina, Boston University, USA. FMRI investigation of spatial memory. Collaborator: Dr. V.D. Bohbot, McGill University, Canada. McGill University, Dept. of Ophthalmology & Montréal Neurological Institute Advisors: Drs. C.L. Baker Jr., A.C. Evans, R.F. Hess ( ) Determined a cortical specialization for first- and second-order motion processing using a combined psychophysical and fmri approach. Developed and validated a novel human brain mapping method for segmentation of early visual areas using fmri. Described the properties of first- and second-order motion mechanisms in peripheral vision using psychophysics. Participated in various psychophysical and fmri studies of the human visual system. Utrecht University & Montréal Neurological Institute Advisors: Drs. A.C. Evans, W.A. van de Grind (1997) Quantified the anatomical location of human MT+ using fmri. Participated in PET and fmri research on the human pathological visual system. Utrecht University, Dept. of Comparative Physiology Advisors: Drs.
