Zoe will pretend to be Natalie s agent and trick Natalie s mom. The plan can only work if Zoe can convince the Shipley Junior Books that she is an author s agent and if Natalie can get the manuscript onto her mother s desk instead of Ella s desk. Zoe, boldly calls the Shipley Junior Book Company as Zee Zee, Cassandra Day s agent The Message Waiting light was dark. That meant her mom had already listened to Zee Zee s message. Natalie must enter Shipley Junior Books and muster all her courage to get the
6 Clerk to verify the envelope by stamping and initialing it, then Natalie just has to bring it to her mother s desk. Natalie says A messenger brought this it s for my mom. Do you need to check it in, or can I take it right back to her? He looked at the address label and said, All it needs is a date stamp and my initials. The plan works and when Letha sees the envelope and recalls the phone conversation she had with Zee Zee, she tells Hannah to read the manuscript over the weekend. As a result of Natalie s and Zoe s imaginative thinking and confidence in their plan and in themselves, their goal of getting Natalie s manuscript read and possibly published is realized.
