What is Rabbit Hopping? Rabbit Hopping is a competition where trained rabbits jump over obstacles of different varieties and sizes. History Rabbit hopping originated in the late 1970 s in Sweden. When first started in Sweden, rabbit hopping was known as kaninhoppning (rabbit jumping). In 1987, the 1 st National Rabbit Hopping Competition was held in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1999, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark came together to form the Nordic Rabbit Hopping Rules. The sport was eventually made popular in the UK, from having a televised appearance on the TV show, That s Life! Now there are more than 50 rabbit hopping groups in Scandinavia alone and rabbit hopping has spread to more countries around the world.

Switzerland (2000) 12. Australia (2012) In the United States The United States national rabbit hopping group is called the American Hopping Association for Rabbits and Cavies (AHARC). Rabbit hopping came to the United States in 2001, but didn t become popular until around The first ever United States rabbit hopping competition was held at the 88 th ARBA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. AHARC finally became a chartered club by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) in 2013.
Rabbit Care and Information Answer the following questions about your rabbit. If you have more than one, just choose one. My rabbit is a buck/doe. My rabbit is a (breed). Every day, my rabbit needs: (Circle all correct answers.) Water New clothes Hay Nails clipped Feed/Pellets Treats Attention/Play Every week I need to: (Circle all correct answers.) Clean the cage 1-2 times. Check teeth, nails, and overall health of my rabbit. Groom rabbit (if needed). Take my rabbit to the veterinarian.
Draw a line from the jump name to the correct picture: Vertical Jump Start or End Jump Spread Jump True or False? A straight course usually has jumps. ARBA is the American Rabbit Breeders Association. A healthy rabbit only drinks once a week. The straight course has many obstacles such as a pause table. A beginner hopping course has lower jumps than an advanced course. When a rabbit will not hop, pulling the leash is the best way to help it move. While hopping, you should never let your feet touch the course mats. Always ignore the judge when it is your turn to hop. Your rabbit must have a foot tattoo to compete in Rabbit Hopping.
Color the rabbit to look like yours when it is hopping. My rabbit s name is. My rabbit can jump over poles. I feed my rabbit times per day. When I want to give my rabbit a treat, I give him/her.
My Rabbit Tell me three or more things about your rabbit. Place a picture of you and your rabbit here:
