How does society affect the individual? 8 Days What is beauty? What is love and attraction? How do our views and actions relate to societal contexts. Define and explain key terms in Social psychology. Summarize classical experiments pertaining to social psychology topics. Analyze the individual behaviors of a person and see the relationships to society s behaviors. Case Study/Social experiments Summative Quizzes PPT
2 BioPsychology Applying and learning the neurons and the brain. Functions, responsibilities etc. 10 days Who are WE? Summarize Neural functioning in the body. Summarize and analyze the functions and parts of the brain and nervous systems? Differentiate the brains activities, organizations, parts, handedness, and etc. Summative evaluation Consciousness What is consciousness inside and outside the body. 10 days How doe we become aware and then live in the world around us. Summarize and differentiate the levels and states of consciousness. Describe the nature of sleep and dreams in relation to its importance to a person. Evaluate the issues of sleep. Analyze addiction and ask the questions Is addiction a disease? Research and provide support to an opinion. Project on addiction Summative test on consciousness
3 Learning Identifying and applying the theories of learning. 12 days Describe the ways an individual learns? Describe and evaluate classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational learning. Compare Operant and classical conditioning. Personality and Freud Overview of the primary psychologist. 11 days Was Freud Wrong? Explain how Freud s life affected his theories? Explain how Freud s life impacted psychoanalysis. Analyze how other personality theories relate/contradict to Freud s. Define our own personality. Explain Freud s stages of development. Summative quiz
4 Abnormal Psychology/Psychopathology Overview of abnormal psychology 12 days Is mental illness something to be scared of? Why and how do we change our views on psychopathology?
