Asshoesandtiresareused,theirphysicalfeatureschangeovertime.Thisis calledwear,andisoftenreflectedintheimprintorpatternleftbehind.inthe caseofatiretrack,ifavehicleisoutofalignment,therightfronttiremaybe heavilywornontheouteredge,leavingauniquewearpattern.aforensic examinercanusethatwearpatternalongwiththetreadpatternand informationgainedfromdatabasesearchestopositivelymatchthat impressiontothesuspect svehicle. Inthecaseofimpressionevidence,generalphotographsoftheevidence locationinrelationtotherestofthescenearetaken,alongwithhighr resolutionimagesoftheindividualimprintsorimpressions.examinersmay usealternatelightsourcesorchemicalenhancerstocaptureasmuchdetail aspossible,especiallywithlatentimprints.
