The result is an epidemic of chronic illnesses, trauma and burnout. Thousands of scientific studies demonstrate the connection between stress and a wide range of disorders: increased cholesterol, vascular spasms, tumor growth, low immune function as well as impaired mental and physical performance. At the same time, most people feel helpless to change this aspect of their lives, so they continually generate new stresses that overwhelm and interfere with their efforts to establish new healthier patterns. The Path by Dr. Stephen Sideroff, is a comprehensive program for dealing with stress and achieving optimal living. Based on forty years of research and clinical work, the book puts his proven model of resilience into a clear and strategically laid out step-by-step guide to one s optimal personal journey. 3 The Author Dr. Stephen Sideroff is an internationally recognized expert in resilience, optimal performance, addiction, neurofeedback and alternative approaches to stress and mental health. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA s School of Medicine, as well as the Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics. Dr. Sideroff presents seminars and professional training programs nationally and internationally. He has helped to establish innovative treatment approaches in psychosomatic medicine, optimal functioning and attention deficit disorder in China, Europe, and the U.S. He has conducted cutting edge research in brain and behavior at UC Irvine, McGill University in Montreal and UCLA. His published research using Neurofeedback in substance has helped to establish programs at Sierra Tucson Treatment Center and other addiction facilities. He is now applying a similar approach in research designed to alleviate symptoms related to cancer and cancer treatment. Dr. Sideroff helped establish the Gestalt Therapy clinic in Los Angeles, and is the founder and former Clinical Director of Stress Strategies, a hospital based program addressing stress, burnout and psychosomatic conditions at UCLA/Santa Monica hospital. As the Clinical Director of Moonview Treatment and Optimal Performance Center, he established the Moonview Model, a trademarked treatment method that utilizes a novel team approach and a combination of mind, body and spiritual modalities. A former college handball champion, Dr. Sideroff has worked with elite athletes as well as teams in the strategies of peak performance in sports and the science of optimal functioning in all areas of life through The Mind Room a unique, stand alone program for individuals and organizations incorporating his expertise in resilience, bio and neurofeedback and related behavioral technologies.
