9 Abstract Effects of age and years of education on neuropsychological data of Japanese healthy elderly persons Hiromi Harada Masako Notoya Masao Nakanishi Nakako Fujiwara Katsumi Inoue In order to provide neuropsychological data on Japanese healthy elderly persons, we explored the neuropsychological performance of 92 subjects aged years old. We examined the effects of age and years of education on their performance, and showed data stratified by age and educational level. We investigated the performance scores of the subjects according to age and/or educational level. Scores on the Kana pick up testnonsense words and story and Trail Making Testpart A, part Bwere found to be significantly associated with age and years of education. 300 word naming test scores were also significantly associated with age. Scores on the Mini Mental State Examination, the story recall test in the Nishimura Dementia Scaleimmediate and delayed recall, and the Rey Osterrieth Complex Figure Testcopy and immediate recallwere not affected by age or years of education. These findings indicate that it is necessary to take the effects of age and years of education into consideration when interpreting scores on neuropsychological tests.
