LANGUAGES: Fluent English and Spanish INNOVATIVE PROJECTS: One of several specialists involved in first adult to child living donor nerve transplant for severe brachial plexus injury in infant less than 12 months of age. I served as the neuromuscular specialist performing serial electrophysiologic testing and clinical examinations and documenting progress and recommending further intervention. One of several experts evaluating patients with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita at Shriners Hospitals for Children, Houston Unit. We plan on determining the genetic and neurologic causes of such through electrophysiologic testing, neuroimaging and possible muscle/nerve biopsies. The genetic causes are also being investigated through a multidisciplinary approach including, genetics, orthopoedics, physical and occupational therapy, and pediatric neurology. RESEARCH INTERESTS: Unclassified Inherited Pediatric Neuropathies Brachial Plexus injuries in neonates, evaluation and treatment. Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Performance of EMG/NCS in adults and children Performance of muscle and nerve biopsies.
