Luersse, MD, Pediatric Sectio Secretary-Treasurer, for his efforts. Although Dr. Luersse s term expires i oe year, I am grateful for his cotiued ivolvemet i the Sectio. A primary goal of the AANS/CNS Sectio o Pediatric Neurological Surgery is to educate ad iform. We recogize that our efforts to educate the eurosurgical commuity have improved the treatmet of the pediatric populatio greater emphasis has bee placed o residecy programs to idetify pediatric eurosurgical problems ad recogized pediatric eurosurgical fellowships are ow beig cosidered by The America Associatio of Neurological Surgeos ad Cogress of Neurological Surgeos. Throughout areas of the Uited States, Caada ad abroad, the cocept of a pediatric eurosurgeo is beig broadly recogized withi the eurosurgical commuity. I fact, i may private ad uiversity eurosurgical commuities withi the Uited States, it is ow relatively easy to idetify those eurosurgeos doig primarily pediatric cases. Health maiteace orgaizatios have started to recruit pediatric eurosurgeos to follow the pediatric cases i their orgaizatios. This would ot have happeed 30 or 40 years ago. Educatio of the eurosurgical commuity has permitted such developmets to esure quality eurosurgical care for childre. I believe that as the Pediatric Sectio moves toward the ext milleium, our directio should exted to iclude educatioal ivolvemet with other medical ad surgical specialties (i.e. Pediatrics, Otolarygology, etc.). All of the proposals had bee circulated to the membership by way of the March 1999 issue of the Pediatric Sectio ewsletter, Short Cuts. It was moved, secoded ad approved that the chages be adopted. Sectio Meetig Dr. Walker reported that the plas for the 1999 Pediatric Sectio meetig were progressig well. The meetig is scheduled to take place Wedesday, December 1 through Saturday, December 4, 1999 at the Grad Hyatt Atlata i Buckhead.
