2 Voluteers ad sposors ow beig accepted for aual Holiday Lights i the Gardes The Florida Botaical Gardes Foudatio is ow acceptig voluteers ad sposors for this year's Holiday Lights i the Gardes. The aual commuity holiday celebratio opes o Friday, Nov. 28, ad is ope ightly from 5:3 to 9:3 p.m. through Wedesday, Dec. 31. The evet is the largest fud raiser for the gardes ad depeds o voluteers, sposors ad doatios to reduce the cost of offerig this holiday traditio i Piellas Couty. More tha 45 voluteers ad geerous sposor doatios made last year's Holiday Lights a success. Voluteers are eeded every ight to greet guests ad sell products from the foudatio's gift cart. Voluteerig is a great way to feel the joy of the holiday seaso by beig part of the revelry that brigs out the best of the gardes. Voluteers may work just oe ight or as may as they would like. No experiece is ecessary ad trai ig will be provided. The foudatio is also lookig for voluteer etertaiers. Each year voluteers provide a wide variety of exceptioal etertaimet that icludes musicias, dacers, jugglers, choirs, magicias ad vocalists. Sposors for light displays ad otable areas of the gardes are also eeded. Amog the may beefits, sposors ejoy recogitio from more tha 7, visitors strollig through the gardes. Sposors are ackowledged through sigage, ightly playbills ad press coverage. Depedig o the area ad legth of time, sposorship costs start at $25, with title sposors startig at $1,. All proceeds from the Holiday Lights go directly back ito the commuity garde, helpig grow a world class botaical garde i Piellas Couty. We eed some dedicated voluteers to help cout ad survey homeless families ad idividuals, ad there are may ways to get ivolved with the 215 Homeless Cout ad Survey. The cout ad survey takes place o Thursday, Jauary 29th, 215 ad is a all-day evet. How does the Homeless Cout ad Survey help? The Homeless Cout ad Survey helps idetify how may people are homeless or about to become homeless i Piellas Couty. This data is importat to assist homeless families ad idividuals obtai stable housig. This iformatio is critical to brig i federal dollars with the goal to help ed homelessess. The data also helps brig eeded resources to help the homeless or those idividuals, childre ad families o the verge of homelessess. What kid of iformatio is collected durig the Cout ad Survey? Data collected icludes: age, race, ethicity, family ad vetera status, health problems, why ad where they became homeless, how may times ad how log they have bee homeless, ad much more. Who will be Couted ad Surveyed? The 215 Homeless Cout ad Survey will survey people who are homeless accordig to the federal ad/or state defiitios of homeless persos: People livig o the streets, i cars, i the woods ad other places ot meat for huma habitatio; People livig i emergecy ad trasitioal shelters; People livig 'doubled-up' with family ad frieds because they lack the resources to obtai their ow housig; ad, People livig i motels/hotels because they lack the resources to obtai their ow permaet housig. 1

There are umerous voluteer opportuities for idividuals ad groups. * Please ote all voluteers will be required to atted a madatory Pre-Cout Traiig. Adopt a Area: Groups ad faith commuities that work with homeless people, eighborhood associatios that wat to help their homeless eighbors ad ay other group lookig for ways to help ca "Adopt a Area" to coduct the cout ad survey. Be a Team Leader: (Outdoors) Voluteers are eeded to lead for the coutig/surveyig teams. These voluteers will: act as spokesperso for the team; meet with the team prior to begiig the cout ad survey to go over the fial istructios; review data collectio form procedures ad aswer ay questios/cocers from the team; ad be resposible for tallyig all homeless idividuals observed, but ot surveyed, while workig their assiged areas. Be a "Couter/Surveyor": (Outdoors) Voluteers are eeded to cavass the Couty i 2-3 hour shifts o Jauary 29 1 h, 215. Voluteers work i 3-4 perso teams, cavass a desigated area ad survey the homeless people they ecouter. Each team will have at least oe perso who has experiece doig the cout ad survey. These areas may iclude: day labor locatios; wooded areas; gas statios ad coveiece stores; ad, alleys ad other places homeless people are kow to gather. Voluteers may also assist i coductig the cout at locatios where homeless people receive services. Be a Collectio Ceter Voluteer: (doors) Voluteers are eeded to be statioed at oe of the ceters i the couty, ad will be resposible for: checkig the field teams i ad out; dispesig supplies; maitaiig phoe cotact with teams to aswer ay questios; ad, addressig ay other issues that may arise durig the Cout ad Survey. 2

These voluteers will also be utilied at the Collectio Ceters, i the evet we do't have eough voluteers to accompay each team. Be a Support Voluteer: (Outdoors or doors) May voluteers will be eeded prior to the cout i order to help with projects like pre-packig field team supplies ad icetives for the homeless cliets; ad, coordiatig pick-up ad distributio of supplies at the Collectio Ceters. Become a Sposor: Sposors are eeded to offset the costs of the T-Shirts, icetives ad pritig costs. Whe will the Pre-Cout Traiigs be held? This data collected durig the Cout ad Survey is used to sustai ad icrease fudig for much eed services for the homeless populatios. t is also used by fuders ad plaers to idetify gaps i services. order to esure the best quality of the data we collect, all voluteers will have to atted a madatory traiig. Numerous traiigs will be scheduled begiig i Jauary. The traiig will be scheduled o a variety of days ad times. For "Adopt a Area" groups or other large groups, we ca arrage for additioal traiigs at your locatio. How old do you have to be to voluteer for the Cout? Voluteers must be at least 18 years old uless accompaied by a paret or legal guardia. A opportuity for youth uder the age of 18 to participate is to help orgaie a collectio of socks ad rai pochos at their schools, youth groups, Boys ad Girls Scout Troops, with their sports/dace teams, i their eighborhood or ay other group i which they participate.
