About the department; Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology - named after the man with a vision for the down trodden and victims of cancer, Mr.Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, the then Governor of Bombay, who donated 20 acres of land situated at Hosur Road, now called as Dr.M.H.Marigowda Road, Bangalore. Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Relief at Kidwai memorial institute of oncology is one of the departments, which has over the years expanded from a nuclear family to a large family. The department was set up in Over the years, along with the development of medical sciences, the department has set up its own high standards in patient care, education and research. All clinical departments are anchored to this specialty. The department offers anaesthesia and pain relief services for cancer treatment which includes Cancer Surgery - curative, palliative and reconstructive using advanced technology and equipments. Our operation theatre complex consisting of seven modern fully equipped operation rooms with 10 bedded and fully airconditioned critical care unit with bed side sophisticated monitors connected to the central monitoring station. We have 15 bedded step down ICU to take care post operative patients. Facilities available in the department; 1) Anaesthesia for cancer surgeries curative, palliative and reconstructive in a) Surgical oncology b) Head & neck oncology
2 c) Oral oncology d) Gynaec oncology e) Radio-therapy 2) Laproscopic surgery 3) Laser surgery 4) Micro-vascular & Reconstructive surgery 5) Anaesthesia for procedures in remote locations a) Sedation for children Radio therapy, RT planning & moulding. b) Sedation for radiological procedures CT scan, MRI Scan & USG biopsy. 6) Pain relief services CT guided interventional blocks. 7) Pre-Anaesthetic clinic 8) Critical care Information to the patients; Pre- Anaesthetic clinic evaluates opd patients coming for surgery. a) OPD timings; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. to 4 p. m. all working days 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Government holidays. b) OPD days; open on all working days & Government holidays. c) Procedure to see the Doctors; patients will be referred to pre- anaesthetic clinic for evaluation.
