E-newsletters actively encourage individuals to cultivate healthy lifestyles through the use of programming like the INShape Indiana 10 in 10 Challenge.

For several years, we ve had a reward program, where if you cease smoking and do a self assessment, you receive a reduction in your [health care] premiums, Clarian president and CEO Daniel Evans told TODAY co host Matt Lauer on Friday. "[But] our health care costs were going up and our employees were not taking full advantage of the programs we had in place.
30 Stick Approach To combat the problem, beginning in 2009 Clarian employees will be charged up to $30 every two weeks for failing to meet standards set by the company in a number of areas.

38 New Media Efforts INShape new media experiments include: 1,000 Twitter followers receiving daily tweets relating to health news and updates. A 1,200 member social networking site complete with member profiles. Unique YouTube videos hosting INShape related content.
39 Other INShape Programs & Events Annual INShape Indiana Health Summit Helps direct statewide health initiatives. Governor s Fitness Award Physical education based youth outreach program. INShape 150 We ask Hoosiers to move at least 150 minutes per week. State Fair Booth space at the State Fair geared toward outreach and education.
40 INShape works to educate the individual on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, enjoying a healthy diet, and avoiding tobacco. Tennessee also struggles with alarming health statistics and has created a program similar to INShape Indiana.
41 Worksite Wellness One Care Street is open to all state and spouses who are covered by the state s health insurance program. The program focuses on helping state employees get and stay healthy. There is an incentive of $260 for an employee with single coverage; for an employee and covered spouse, the incentive is $390. Incentives are paid twice a year in April and October.

Both INShape and GetFitTN have a strong focus on: The three basics of physical activity, nutrition and tobacco prevention Community Participation and Outreach Health Fairs Speaking engagements Buy in from state leadership and local sports celebrities i.e., Peyton Manning and Eddie George.
55 How are we different? GetFitTN offers the following unique applications: A Fitness Tracker that allows members to record their activity levels and keep a food journal. An Events Calendar highlights local events and lets member know if a GetFitTN representative will be attending. An extensive photo galley featuring pics from various GetFitTN related events.
56 How are we different? INShape Indiana offers the following unique features: Active communication with our participants through various platforms; website, , and social networking. Partnership development that helps to strengthen the brand and extend out reach.
57 What can we learn? Both initiatives have taken a similar approach to tackling a major issue. INShape could work to develop a more interactive website with tracking applications. GetFitTN could become more proactive and use different tools to help spread its message to a larger audience.
