8 Most tobacco users aspire to be tobacco-free ~80-90% of smokers regret starting to smoke ~70% want to quit smoking ~43% tried to quit smoking every year Likelihood of quitting greatly increased with help and support Worksites can be ideal settings to promote cessation
9 Worksite cessation is costeffective Cost analyses show tobacco cessation benefits, from an employer's perspective, are cost-saving. Return on Investment (ROI) ROI of 75% 92% for private health plans ROI of 212% for Medicaid plans A comprehensive and effective smoking cessation program will usually cost less than $0.50 per member per month Each employee or dependent who quits smoking reduces annual medical and life insurance costs by at least $210 almost immediately.
