2 Contents Invitation Dear Colleagues, Invitation Introduction Organizing Committee Postgraduate Course Thursday, June 14 Program at a Glance Scientific Program Friday, June 15 Scientific Program Saturday, June 16 Invited Speakers / Accommodation Our Patrners On behalf of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL), I would like to cordially invite you to the Annual Meeting of the KASL, which will be held at the Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel, Seoul, Korea, on June 14~16, To keep pace with the times of flat global when all the people in the world are friends, and to more vigorously exchange information with researchers from other countries, the KASL has expanded its annual meeting to an international conference level from Last year, attendees from 8 countries gathered at the meeting where they discussed their latest research results with each other and shared their common interests. The annual meeting 2012 will also be attended by the invited internationally famed speakers including those who represent APASL, EASL, and AASLD, and outstanding domestic speakers. I am sure that this meeting will provide an ideal opportunity for attendees from different countries to acquire and exchange the latest knowledge and opinions about the rapid trends in the field of hepatology. In order to share this opportunity with more friends, we will maximize our support for outstanding young investigators by granting them a travel award. With intent to play a more valuable role in the international society of the 21st century, Korea is getting into more mature shape. In line with this, Seoul, the capital of Korea, is a dynamic city with an enviroment which is safe and pleasant enough to expand and reach out for the global exchanges in all aspects. 3 Introduction Organizing Committee What is KASL? The KASL consists of a group of medical doctors and scholars in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, radiology, pathology, laboratory medicine, and radiation oncology, who treat and/or study liver diseases. At present it has about 1,300 members, each playing an active part. To keep pace with the times of flat global and to more vigorously exchange information with researchers from other countries, the KASL has expanded its annual meeting to an international conference level from As a result, the KASL was able to lay the foundation of collaborative research into ways of fighting, through international exchange and cooperation against liver diseases. About KASL 2012 The annual meeting 2012 will be attended by the invited internationally famed speakers including those who represent APASL, EASL, and AASLD, and outstanding domestic speakers.
