6 Hair ELISA Drug Kits Neogen has expanded its forensic drug detection product line by adding hair testing ELISA kits for the most commonly abused drugs on the illicit market Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Opiates, Synthetic Opiates, PCP, and THC. Using hair samples to detect drugs of abuse has become common practice because of its advantages over traditional sample types. Advantages include: Hair is easy to handle and store Collection is far less invasive than urine and blood Brief periods of non-use do not affect test results A larger window of drug detection Simple retesting Difficult to adulterate test results These advantages have led hair samples to be extensively used in workplace testing, as well as in other areas, such as legal cases, occupational and traffic medicine, and for historical research. Intended Use For the determination of trace quantities of drug analytes in human hair samples. Features of Neogen s Hair ELISA Kits: High sensitivity Excellent reproducibility Compatible with automated and semi-automated equipment Available in 96 and 480 well assay Neogen's Hair ELISA Kits Kit Name Product No. Cocaine Methamphetamine Opiates Synthetic Opiates PCP THC Not sold in the U.S. FOR FORENSIC USE ONLY Assay Principle Neogen s competitive direct ELISAs operate on the basis of competition between the drug or its metabolite in the sample and the drug-enzyme conjugate for a limited number of specific binding sites on the precoated microplate. The simple assay procedure includes the addition of samples, calibrators or controls to the antibody-coated microplate followed by the addition of the enzyme conjugate (HRP). During incubation, the drug in the sample and the drug enzyme conjugate compete for binding sites on the antibody- coated microplate. After the incubation, the microplate is washed and K-Blue Substrate (TMB) is added. After the substrate incubation, the test can be read visually or with a microplate reader. The extent of color development is inversely proportional to the amount of drug in the sample or control/calibrator. The absence of the drug in the sample will result in a blue color (yellow if acid stop is used), whereas the presence of the drug will result in decreased or no color development. 6 To order, call: (USA/Canada) or Fax: inform@neogen.com Web: toxicology.neogen.com

The plate is ready for use. DO NOT WASH. A sample or control is added to each well. Next, the drug-enzyme conjugate is added and the mixture is incubated at room temperature. Wash the plate to remove all unbound materials. The bound materials now remain in the microplate. Add TMB substrate to each well and allow the color to develop. Qualitative results are obtained by measuring the absorbance reading at 450 nm or 650 nm if no acid stop is used. To order, call: (USA/Canada) or Fax: inform@neogen.com Web: toxicology.neogen.com 7
