8 Analytical examination/test descriptions anti-tpo The most common autoantibodies in patients with thyroid autoimmune diseases, such as Hashimoto s and Graves Basedow disease. They can occur before or after there are any hormonal abnormalities. For pregnant women the test is prescribed in order to assess the risk of postpartum thyroiditis. HCG The test is performed in order to confi rm the pregnancy and afterwards used to monitor it s progress. Total bilirubin TBIL The survey refl ects the functions of the liver and the bile ducts. It is the basic test for the diagnosis of jaundice. CA 125* Tumor marker linked to, among others, ovarian cancer. CA 15-3* Tumor marker linked to, among others, breast cancer. CEA, AFP* Tumor markers; examinations towards the liver and the bile ducts cancer. Cholinesterase The enzyme produced in the liver, which is an indicator of the liver functioning. CK Examination of muscle damage, including myocardial. A positive result may be related to the recently myocardial infarction. In that case, the specifi c marker of myocardial troponin should be done, to rule out other causes of CK growth, such as the damage to the muscle or intramuscular injection.

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH or LD) Testing for liver cell injury as a result of e.g. intoxication or viral infections. The level of this hormone is an important element in the assessment of thyroid function disorders. In the diagnosis of thyroid disease the relationship between test results of FT4 and TSH is very important. Glucose The basic test for the diagnosis of diabetes. Antinuclear antibodies ( ANA1 ) - screening test This is a Preliminary test for a type of autoimmune hepatitis. In case of a positive result it is necessary to perform the complex test (ANA 2).
