25 Lessons Learned We are all part of an intellectual continuum Teams and mentors are critical Hire the smartest post-docs and learn from them Collaborate globally Research questions come from patients, colleagues, fellows and the research team Keeping abreast of related fields allows for advances in your own Don t belittle case reports; they can be prismatic Study enough patients; learn to recognize patterns Databases are very useful Be suspicious of the perfect test Be willing to give up on a test, even those you develop Be practical - think outside of the ivory tower We are lucky to be pediatric endocrinologists
