Remember to consume mindfully during this holiday season. Stay healthy by ea ng raw! Some foods, when cooked lose many of their nutrients and all diges ve enzymes! Try to incorporate some raw food into your daily meals. Hydrate with water instead of sugary sodas and tea. Those cause inflamma on. A study conducted by the American Journal of Public Health found that drinking 20 ounces of sugary soda daily sped up biological aging by 4.6 years, which is comparable to the effects of smoking! Take some me in these next two months to see where you d like to focus your me and energy. This can help create awareness and will help you to priori ze. Take me to simply do nothing! Grab a few minutes between ac vi es or just before bed me to take a few really deep breaths. Prac ce the mantra: Inhale Peace, Exhale Joy Above all, give thanks! Studies have shown that prac cing gra tude improves overall health, one s perspec ve and rela onships. It reminds us that we are supported and loved. When you are worried and you can t sleep, count your blessings instead of sheep, you ll fall asleep coun ng your blessings. Thanksgiving Green Tip When planning your Thanksgiving meal, think organic and local! Support your local economy this holiday. You ll enjoy the freshest food and reduce your carbon footprint. After the big meal, head outside and play a game of football instead of sitting on the couch watching it on TV! This way you won t feel guilty about dessert!

2 Have regular glaucoma screenings. Glaucoma is a major cause of blindness and it usually doesn t present visual symptoms un l it has caused significant damage to the op c nerve. A screening will allow your ophthalmologist to check for other eye problems such as macular degenera on. Use at least a 15 SPF sunscreen. Skin cancers are the most common of all cancers by far. Fortunately, most of them (basil cell and squamous cell carcinomas) are rarely lethal, though they can cause local disfigurement if not caught early. Melanoma is both disfiguring and lethal, so it must be diagnosed as early as possible. Preven on is KEY! Sunscreen, protec ve clothing and avoidance of direct sun exposure between 10:00am and 2:00pm when the sun is the strongest. 4 Tips for a Stress-free Thanksgiving by Suburban Simplicity 1. The day before Thanksgiving Prep... -Cut any vegetables and refrigerate -Prep any vegetable sides you can -Assemble your dressing/stuffing -Prep the potatoes. Peel, submerge in water and refrigerate -Prep or prepare your desserts. -Chill beverages 2. Set The Table the Night Before 3. Empty the Dishwasher and Trash Cans the night before 4. Read your recipes carefully to make sure you have everything on hand 5. Establish a Make your own Breakfast policy or have something on hand that doesn t require cooking or work on your part! 6. Pin up you recipes. Tape them to your cabinet doors so they re at eye level! 7. Use dried herbs. If you forgot fresh herbs, don t worry, use 1 tsp of dried for one tablespoon of fresh. 8. If serving wine, chill quickly by wrapping the bonle in a dish towel and placing it in the freezer for minutes. Set a mer so you don t forget about it! 9. Sort you serving plates and utensils the night before. 10. Use a slow cooker to keep your mashed potatoes warm. BuNer the inside and pour just a linle cream in the bonom, then fill with your mashed potatoes. Set on warm and s r every 30 minutes.

5 Roasted Butternut Squash and Spinach by Delish Ingredients 1 medium bunernut squash 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. olive oil kosher salt Pepper ¼ c. sliced almonds ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon 1 pinch cayenne pepper 4 c. baby spinach Directions 1. Heat the oven to 425 degrees F. On a large rimmed baking sheet, toss the bunernut squash with 2 tablespoons oil and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Roast for 20 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, toss the almonds with the remaining teaspoon oil, then the cinnamon and cayenne. ScaNer the almonds over the squash and con nue roas ng un l the almonds are golden brown and the squash is tender, about 5 minutes more. ScaNer the spinach over the squash and almonds and let sit for 1 minute, then gently fold together.
