1 A FOUR WEEK CHALLENGE Dates: HOW TO EARN POINTS: 1. Hunger Scale: From 1-10 STOP! THINK! How hungry are you? Before and after eating? 5 points for each meal. Possible weekly total of 105 points. 2. Halfsies 1/2 lunch portion or 1/2 dinner portion 10 points for lunch or dinner. 70 possible weekly points. 3. Do Something to Help Hunger Your challenge is to do something to help hunger in the community or beyond. We want to hear how you made a difference. This can be done as a team. Share your story, by ing to healthyu@romeoclinic.com and you ll get a 100 point individual bonus! 4. Be a Team Captain Captains will receive an extra 100 points for volunteering. Weekly team point updates will be mailed to Team Captains IF YOU NEED TO BE PLACED ON A TEAM Send an to *Rewards for completing the challenge will be company specific
2 Full Hunger Part of the hunger scale is not only knowing when to eat, but when to stop. The Hunger-Fullness Scale 0 EMPTY 1 RAVENOUS 2 OVER-HUNGRY 3 HUNGER PANGS 4 HUNGER AWAKENS 5 NEUTRAL 6 JUST SATISFIED 7 COMPLETELY SATISFIED 8 FULL 9 STUFFED 10 SICK 0 - EMPTY: Hollow feeling, intense pain, nauseous, tired, weak. Severe suffering. 1 - RAVENOUS: You may have a headache. You can t concentrate and feel dizzy. Out of energy and need to lie down. This may happen during a very restrictive diet. 2 - OVER HUNGRY: You can t seem to tolerate anything. You re irritable, cranky with little energy. You may even feel nauseous. 3 - HUNGER PANGS: The urge to eat is strong. You are feeling an emptiness in your stomach. Coordination begins to wane. 4 - HUNGER AWAKENS: You start to think about food. Your body is giving you the signal that you might want to eat. You are a little hungry Work towards staying more in the green area, zones 4-7. This will help with portion control, blood sugar balance and energy levels. 5 - NEUTRAL: Your body had enough fuel to keep it going and is physically and psychologically just starting to feel satisfied. 6 - JUST SATISFIED: You are full and at the point of satisfaction. 7 - COMPLETELY SATISFIED: You are past the point of satisfaction, yet you can still find room for a little more. Your body says no and your mind says yes to a few more bites 8 - FULL: You are actually starting to hurt. You should not have had more, but it tasted so good. Or, did you get caught up in the eating is the thing to do syndrome because all the activity was centered around food? 9 - STUFFED: The after effects feel really uncomfortable. Maybe you didn't eat all day to leave room for this meal. You feel heavy, tired and bloated. You no longer feel like socializing, you would be by yourself or go to bed BEYOND FULL: This is a typical Thanksgiving Dinner feeling. You are physically miserable. You don t want to or can not move.
