1 Breaking News! NeoLifeShake Clinically Proven Weight Loss and much more! New Human Clinical Trials Results: Clinically Proven Weight Loss & Body Fat Reduction! Clinically Proven Body Mass Index (BMI) reduction! Clinically Proven Anthropometric (Body Size) Reductions! Clinically Proven Cardio-Protective Benefits! Once again NeoLife has stepped to the forefront of Nutrition Science with leading edge research that proves product excellence and benefits beyond any doubt. This compelling new evidence is the result of Human Clinical Trials conducted under the guidance of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) by a world-leading clinical research facility. This state-of-the-science, 12 week controlled intervention trial assessed the benefits of daily consumption of NeoLifeShake on people in the free living, real world circumstances of daily life. The results were highly positive and showed that NeoLifeShake delivers powerful benefits across a wide spectrum of important health biomarkers including weight loss, body mass index, anthropometric (body size) measures and blood cholesterol values. Our latest clinical study that was presented at the American College of Nutrition confirms what we thought to be true from the formulation of our product because of the decades of research that makes up the scientific basis for our NeoLifeShake. Arianna Carughi SAB Member Background Weight management throughout life should be a primary health practice for everyone. The evidence is clear that being overweight or obese leads to health challenges that have life-threatening, scary implications including 1 : increased risk of heart disease diabetes hypertension & stroke metabolic syndrome some forms of cancer joint failure sleep disturbances On top of that, it can accelerate aging and bring on age-related functional and cognitive loss sooner. Overweight and obesity is the #2 cause of preventable death (after smoking) for both women and men in the US. (A reality that is essentially worldwide.) With two-thirds of the US population either overweight or obese the need for powerful, nutritionally valid tools for the pursuit of weight loss and attainment of healthy, lifetime weight management has never been more needed. NeoLife is a long-term leader in the healthy weight loss/management sciences. Lead 2 3 of people in the U.S. are obese or overweight by its world renowned Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), and based on decades of research, unique and exclusive formulations and technologies have been developed and tested. Leading edge concepts such as glycaemic response control, commonly referred to in scientific journals and popular press these days, was first conceived, developed, tested and confirmed by the SAB more than a decade ago; with clinically proven results published in the peer-reviewed Journal of the American College of Nutrition 2. This latest clinical evidence is equally compelling. It proves that NeoLifeShake is a safe and effective way to pursue healthy weight loss; an urgent health need for the majority of the population. But it also goes beyond that to display benefits across a broad spectrum of critical biomarkers that are important for long-term health, vitality and functional longevity. A powerful and effective solution at a critical time! 4
2 NEOLIFE Lifestyle NEWS YOU CAN USE The Study Wanting to make sure the study was a reflection of real-world challenges an intervention trial protocol was selected. This means that participants continued with their daily lives just as always, only utilising the NeoLifeShake and usage guidance that was provided. This protocol was then sent to an Independent Review Board (IRB) of well-respected scientists for approval. The participants were healthy men and women between 25 and 55 years of age. They were recruited from the general population and invited to participate in this 12 week trial. Baseline values were established for each qualified candidate at their first clinic visit, including: weight, body mass index, body measures and blood values. Each participant was then given enough NeoLifeShake for two meals each day for 2 weeks. At each 2-week interval they returned to the clinic where interviews were taken and measures were charted. They were then given another 2-week supply. Follow-up occurred with all participants at every interval. At the conclusion of the trial all data for each participant was sent for statistical analysis. 3 On the path to quality health Last year I started a new lifestyle with NeoLife. I replaced my fatty breakfasts and lunches with GR 2 Control Meal Replacement Protein Shakes and other NeoLife nutritionals. I began to choose more organic, non-gmo whole foods versus processed and fast foods, and stopped drinking 2-3 cans of soft drink per day. I incorporated a 30 minute walk into my day. As soon as NeoLifeShake was available, I switched and started to see better results! Fast forward to a year and a half later: I ve lost over 90 kgs and went down four shirt sizes. My blood pressure is normal. I feel great and have more energy now. I truly believe I am on the right path to quality health. -Carlos Tristan, California Clinically Proven Weight Loss The prevalence of being overweight and obese has risen sharply in the US and much of the rest of the world in recent decades. And for this exact group, NeoLifeShake delivered powerful, statistically significant benefits. Following a simple program that replaced two meals each day with NeoLifeShake, study participants at trial completion showed significant decreases in average body weight, with a mean loss of 2.3 kgs. (Highest losses were over 9 kgs.) Another highly significant finding of the statistical analysis was that participants average body weight decreased continuously at every clinic visit from base line to completion. This data further supports a picture of healthy weight loss that is not just associated with one-time diuretic water loss. For Body Fat Reduction B ody fat percentage is an important biomarker for current and future health as well as how you look and feel. The higher the body fat percentage the fatter you are and the higher the probability of certain diseases being present today or likely to occur in the future. Body fat percentage is also a reflection of fitness. Because it does not consider either height or weight, but rather just how much fat is present it gives a view of relative health that Body Mass Index (BMI) alone cannot. Using a state-of-the-science analytical protocol known as Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA), researchers showed that participants baseline to completion body fat percentage decreased by a very rewarding 9.86%. Results are not typical. In an open label clinical study participants lost an average of 2.3 kgs over a 12 week period. 6
4 NEOLIFE Lifestyle NEWS YOU CAN USE For Healthy BMI: ccording to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Body Mass Index (BMI) is an important means of assessing overweight and obesity (body fatness) as an indicator of future health or disease. 3 Though it is a simple calculation of weight to height it has proven highly reliable for basic health assessments. Amongst other health/disease risk criteria, it is a primary measure used by the medical community for the determination of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) as well as Diabetes and related complications. 4 The rule is, higher the BMI the greater the risk of disease. Thus, lowering body mass index is an important indicator of both fat loss and health benefit. Clinical evidence from this trial shows NeoLifeShake is effective in lowering body mass index. Data collected and calculated for participants at baseline and at each clinic visit thereafter showed continuously significant decreases in BMI throughout the study period. For Size and Shape Clinically Proven Anthropometric (Body Size) Reductions! A S B Check your BMI! howing measured reductions in specific body locations is an important indicator of healthy weight loss. It s also an important boost toward attaining personal look and feel goals. Where people shrink the most during weight loss is very person-specific. Some people might lose inches more quickly in their arms or thighs while for others it might be other body zones. In a study population, such as the participants of the NeoLifeShake trial, the expectation would be for average group inch reduction at several body locations. That was exactly what the researchers observed in the NeoLifeShake trial in four key target regions; Waist circumference decreased. Hip circumference decreased. Arm circumference was shown to be consistently lower compared to base line. Thigh circumference showed a continuously decreasing trend from base line to study conclusion. For Heart Health Clinically Proven Cardio-Protective Benefits: eing overweight and obese is a key indicator of risk for heart and cardiovascular diseases as well as stroke. There is also a strong correlation between being overweight or obese and having high levels of total cholesterol in general and bad LDL cholesterol in particular. For weight loss to be truly healthy it should also have a beneficial impact on blood cholesterol levels and ratios. (continued on page 8) John Miller SAB Member Using the highest level of scientific investigation to substantiate product performance and benefits of our products is a hallmark of GNLD and the SAB. Instigating and/or supporting sophisticated clinical trials with world class organisations and institutions, has produced a steady stream of powerful clinical evidence that separates the company and its products from all others. It s a mindset first instilled in us by SAB Founding Member, Dr. Arthur Furst and I am certain he would be excited about this new research and the benefits it displays. 7
5 NEOLIFE Lifestyle NEWS YOU CAN USE For Heart Health Clinically Proven Cardio-Protective Benefits: (continued from page 7) The clinical evidence for the NeoLifeShake trial showcased cardio-protective benefits in four important ways: 1. 15% reduction in LDL (bad) Cholesterol! By comparing the analytical results of blood samples taken at baseline to those taken at week 12, researchers showed significant decrease in LDL cholesterol values (108.63mg/dl to 92.13mg/dl). We have always known that controlling glycaemic response is at the core of weight management since it helps the body burn fat naturally and minimises fat storage. Now we have built upon that proven concept using the latest discoveries in nutritional science and human biochemistry. These are related to gut-brain satiety signalling systems as well as the role of specific branched chain amino acids that help the body synthesise and retain lean muscle mass, that ultimately also helps in weight loss and improving body composition. The culmination of all this research, built on our 50+ years of nutritional expertise is NeoLifeShake. And now we have clinical proof that it works - the ultimate scientific validation for a product. Anjana Srivastava Chief Product Officer % reduction in Total Cholesterol! Again using sophisticated analytical methodologies to evaluate base line and trial completion blood samples total cholesterol values were shown to decrease markedly (199.58mg/dl to mg/dl). 3. HDL (good) Cholesterol was protected! HDL cholesterol is known to be protective against heart and cardiovascular disease. Maximising its presence in blood serum is a wise and prudent course. Trial researchers found that in spite of the serious decreases in Total Cholesterol and LDL (bad) Cholesterol, the good/hdl cholesterol was preserved (<0.003% loss). 4.HDL to Total Cholesterol Ratio improved! In addition to keeping Total Cholesterol at 200 or less, the balance between Total Cholesterol and HDL (good) Cholesterol is another primary heart health/disease risk biomarker. Seen as the strongest predictor of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) risk by leading researchers 5,6 keeping that ratio as low as possible (less than 3/1) is prudent and important. Evidence from the NeoLifeShake clinical trial showed an improvement in the ratio of Total Cholesterol (TC) to HDL (good) Cholesterol (TC/HDL) from 3.17/1 to 2.95/1. Published Results Results published in an abstract in August 2014 and poster presentation at the 55th Annual Conference of the American College of Nutrition in October Assessing the Efficacy of NeoLifeShake Protein-Based Meal Replacement Product on Weight Loss. 6 On the road to better health Why NeoLifeShake Works So Well Proving such powerful benefits in a clinically controlled trial is by no means an accident. NeoLifeShake is built upon decades of research and investigation and reflects an understanding of the body s needs and functions at the very highest levels of contemporary science. The product formula was developed with very specific benefits in mind. By utilising NeoLife s exclusive: clinically proven glycaemic response control technology to reduce fat storage and promote fat burning promotes gut-brain satiety signalling BCAAs Branched Chain Amino Acids to promote lean muscle mass and build and maintain muscle all 22 amino acids involved in human nutrition Also great for daily nutrition! NeoLifeShake 16 servings/canister #690 - Creamy Vanilla #691 - Berries n Cream #692 - Rich Chocolate The result: proven weight loss in the form of body fat reduction and lean muscle retention, along with important cardiovascular health benefits. Not surprisingly, whether you need to lose weight or not these same benefits would apply. I had been praying for a pathway to healing and shortly after that I was introduced to NeoLife. I am now on the road to better health, a slimmer body and a new outlook on life. In May of 2014 I begin taking Pro Vitality and drinking NeoLifeShake not thinking about losing weight but hoping to feel better. I was 5 3 and 84.5 kgs, overweight, tired, and rundown with one medical problem after another. Not long after I started taking the NeoLife products I began to notice that I had more energy in the morning then after about two weeks my clothes were fitting better. In August I decided to join a weight-loss challenge. When I got on the scale, I weighed 79 kgs. That s when I realised I was losing weight so I did the 30-day Challenge and lost another 5 kgs for a total of 10.5 kgs in a short time. This has encouraged me to continue losing weight and I have seen my health improve. My blood pressure and blood sugar are normal. I feel better physically than I have in many years and I love the NeoLife products, love sharing with others how they can improve their health also. Karen McKay, Florida Results are not typical. In an open label clinical study participants lost an average of 2.3 kgs over a 12 week period. References 1. Overweight and Obesity-Related Health Problems in Adults.
