ALLUX -Color Set Instructions for Use Thank you for choosing to work with our new, highly innovative veneering ceramic ALLUX, the veneering ceramic for all types of aluminium oxide core materials. These instructions for use are intended to give you an impression of how easy it is to work with our new material and to highlight some of its excellent features. The unique qualities of this material include:
True ShadeIdentity Handling and color Identical color reproduction with all WIELAND Easy and accurate matching of the V-shade guide Excellent handling properties Exceptionally natural color effects Robust firing characteristics Reliable application techniques Minimal shrinkage -type veneering ceramics Physical properties ALLUX is a veneering ceramic with a leucite-free HDAM * microstructure This creates an extremely homogeneous, gingiva-friendly and plaque resistant surface Bonds best to the indicated substructures High strength: 1 MPa Polishes well in the mouth Opalescence remains stable during multiple firings; light dynamics is a standard asset for us * High Density Advanced Microstructure 4
The logic behind the -Color Set The simple, quick and reliable path to success On opening the -Color Set you will see an illustrated description of the contents. This map shows you how to use the -Color Set: The ceramic materials on the left hand side are for the shade A. The shaded blue arrows indicate the classical two-layer-technique (dentine-incisal). The unshaded blue arrows indicate possible variations for a more detailed build-up. By following these arrows you can produce a variety of different color and light effects. The right hand side of the -Color Set works in exactly the same way. By following the shaded red arrows you can easily and quickly produce the shade A. The unshaded red arrows indicate a range of possible modifications, as described above. In order to help you to use the materials more effectively, the following pages provide a brief description of the individual components and their areas of application: 5
Liner Covers the aluminium oxide substructure in a thin layer and ensures the True ShadeIdentity to all WIELAND -type veneering ceramics. Dentine Used for the dentine build-up and to support the basic color definition. Incisal Used for imitating the natural enamel. The individual incisal materials are numbered and labelled according to shade. For example, Incisal when used as part of a standard build-up will create an exact reproduction of shade A. Chromatix Chromatix materials are dentine modifiers and are used to control and individualise chroma and opacity. Chromatix has a slightly higher opacity than the dentines and a higher degree of chroma. Flu Dentine This material also belongs to the dentine modifier group. It can be used to control the brightness of the ceramic build-up. The more Flu Dentine is used, the brighter the ceramic crown becomes. Opale Incisal With Opale Incisal a natural opalescence can be achieved even after multiple firings. Opale Incisal can be mixed with regular incisal materials or used on its own. Light dynamics is a standard asset for us. Transpa Clear / Transpa Neutral By using Transpa Clear/ Transpa Neutral it is possible to reproduce various degrees of transparency, whether transparent incisal edges or simply a nuance in the incisal area. Stain Finishing touches, for example in the incisal or occlusal areas, can be added by using the stains. Please note Only ALLUX stains may be used, since they are specifically designed to be compatible with the ALLUX veneering ceramics. Glaze Glaze determines the final surface structure of the ceramic build-up. The glaze material is applied in a thin and even layer. When using glaze, the firing temperature can be reduced by approx. 1 C. However, because of the homogeneous surface structure of ALLUX, glazing is not always necessary. 6 X Carving Liquid Retain (Mixing Liquid) The X Carving Liquids are used for mixing all - type dentines, modifiers and incisals. They offer ideal modelling properties and a wide range of processing options together with excellent firing results. It is essential that ALLUX ceramics are only mixed with the recommended liquids. X Stain Liquid (Stain and Glaze Liquid) X Stain Liquid is used for mixing all and glaze. Liner Liquid Optimix (Liner Mixing Liquid) -type stains Use for ALLUX Liner. In order to ensure the best handling, firing and bonding properties, use only this liquid.
Instructions for use step by stepeinfach, schnell und sicher zum Erfolg Indication Dental ceramic complying with EN ISO 687 for the ceramic veneering of full ceramic substructures on an Al O (aluminium oxide) base with a coefficient of thermal expansion of the substructure of approx K -1 (5-5 C). Please note Both, densely sintered or infiltrated aluminium oxide ceramic substructures with a CTE of approx K -1 (5-5 C) can be veneered with ALLUX. Preparing the substructure Prepare the substructure according to the manufacturer s recommendations. Important As a rule, full ceramic substructures should only be grinded with adequate instruments. Always ensure that the framework is adequately cooled (e.g. water drops or water-cooled turbine). Inadequate cooling leads to local overheating of the substructure material, which in turn causes micro cracks to form in the structured ceramics and therefore causes the restoration to fail. After grinding, sandblast the substructure material with µm aluminium oxide at a pressure of approx bar and then rinse under running water. Substructure ready for the 1 st liner bake 7
Standard build-up Incisal Incisal Incisal Dentine Liner Dentine Dentine Substructure Drawings by Sylvia Neutzling 8
1 st liner bake After the substructure has been suitably prepared, the first layer of liner can be applied. The liner is supplied as a powder. To apply the liner, use a suitable instrument (glass applicator or brush). Apply a thin layer of liner evenly. Please ensure that this first layer is not too thick. If the liner is applied too thickly, uncontrollable amounts of liquid can evaporate during preheating and cause bubbles. For firing temperatures and times please refer to the firing programs given at the end of these instructions. nd liner bake (optional the second liner bake may be omitted if you choose) If necessary, you can choose a second liner application. According to the recommandations given above, the liner should not be applied too thickly. The liner must completely cover the substructure so as to ensure that the crown is uniform in color. Copings after the liner bake; the liner has a shiny and smooth appearance Please note The liner should be applied evenly with an applicator or a brush. The consistency should be neither too thick nor too thin. Avoid excessive condensation and do not allow thick layers of liner to flow into the occlusal, approximal or marginal areas. Thick layers of liner can crack during firing. Problems can also occur if the liner is dried too quickly. If the recommended pre-drying and drying times are decreased, small cavities may form or the liner may flake off. Liner ALLUX Liner is only available as a powder. For reasons of handling, ALLUX powder must not be mixed with distilled water. Use only ALLUX Liner Liquid, since this ensures that the material will stay in place during application. 9
Crowns after the build-up of the first dentine layer 1 st dentine bake Mix the dentine and incisal powders in the usual manner with the carving liquid provided. Begin the build-up with the dentine core, then completing the incisal area. Although the shrinkage of ALLUX after firing has been minimized, it is still necessary to build-up to a slightly larger dimension. Fire the ceramic according to the recommendations in the table attached. Please note The HDAM microstructure of ALLUX gives the surface a high shine after the 1 st and nd dentine bakes. Dentine / incisal build-up after the 1 st dentine bake Dentine with incisal areas built-up Finished dentine / incisal build-up 1
nd dentine bake After the 1 st dentine bake, correct the shape by grinding with adequate instruments. During this stage, please take care to cool adequately (using drops of water). Then complete the shape by adding a further layer of dentine and incisal materials. Use the same method as described for the 1 st dentine bake. Important Under no circumstances use ALLUX ceramics together with other ceramic powders of any type whatsoever. Since ALLUX has a unique HDAM microstructure it is not compatible with other ceramics. Please note Avoid grinding with too much pressure since this can cause overheating. As with all ceramics, excessive grinding causes micro cracks in the ceramic structure and can result a possible failure of the ceramic structure. Please note Glaze By modifying the firing temperature and holding time, the degree of glaze can be varied from matt to a high shine to suit individual requirements. The corrected build-up ready for the nd dentine bake Stains and glaze After final conturing, stains and / or glaze can be used to give the crown its individual character. Please only use ALLUX stains and glaze. If other products are used there is a risk of uncontrolled stress in the ceramic causing the restoration to fail through tension or pressure cracks. Please mix stains and glaze only with the Stain and Glaze Liquid supplied. Apply with a conventional staining brush. Follow our firing instructions. Crowns after the nd dentine bake 11 The finished crowns after the glaze firing
Professional Build-up In addition to the standard two-layer-technique, this -Color Set also provides the materials required to produce an advanced, professional build-up. For this purpose these materials are supplied: Chromatix Flu Dentine Opale Incisal Transpa Neutral Transpa Clear Stain Flu Dentine Flamingo Opale Incisal Opale Incisal Transpa Clear Incisal These modifiers can be mixed together in any way you like. The most popular uses of these materials are shown in the watercolor illustration to the right! The actual color of the individual materials can be seen on the shade guide provided.
