1 HOME SCHOOL ASL 101 Lesson 1- Fingerspelling
2 American Sign Language- ASL It is what most of the North American Deaf use to communicate.
3 The Deaf use their hands, face, and body expressions to talk. Why do they use face and body expressions?
4 You can hear the tones in your voice to know how you are feeling.
5 You can hear the tones in your voice to know how you are feeling. The deaf can not hear, so we use our facial expression and body language to know how you are feeling.
6 The deaf can not hear, so we use our facial expression and body language to know how you are feeling. That is ASL.
7 ASL is NOT English. It is not in English order, verbs, or making any sense with the signing.
8 Leave your English at the door. You can get it back when the class is finished.
9 ASL will be less confusing if you do not think in English.
