3 Minu Ever since she hatched from her egg, always runs near her father, mother or the other dragons. She needs to have them nearby, because she is afraid of being alone. 2-3
4 She likes being with older dragons because they make her feel safe. But sometimes, adult dragons also need to be alone. Minu, these conversations are not for little dragons! Minu, you re always in the way. 4-5
5 The little dragon was not afraid of walking with the large dragons with heavy footsteps. The ground shook nicely and that made her feel accompanied. 6-7
6 In the cave, she always played beside her parents and her mother often said to her: Minu, stop, you ll make me fall over. 8-9
7 Mum? Dad? But that morning, when she woke up, she discovered that the cave where she was sleeping was empty. That made her feel insecure and unprotected. Where are you? 10-11
8 Nobody answered started her and trembling she realized Then, she that closed her eyes they had left her alone. and strong ly
9 Minu remembered how cosy she felt inside her egg before hatching. Surrounded by that hard shell, she felt safe. And she decided to look that all the dragon parents kept somewhere in the cave. for the she ls 14-15
10 She found two halves of an egg that fitted together perfectly! She only had to climb inside and close it, but it was not that easy. The egg had not grown like she had and it was too small for her. She tried everything possible, until the shell was completely broken
11 Minu trembled with fear and her legs could no longer carry her. Suddenly, the ground had become fragile and she had the sensation of walking over thin threads, doing acrobatics
12 When she was afraid, the little dragon did not know where to put her feet. She was so unlucky that when she left the cave, she tripped over and fell down the slope
13 The silence outside led her to realize that her friends were not nearby either
14 Minu closed her eyes and Little by little, she began snuggled up. At first she didn t feel anything. to feel the beating of her heart. Boom-boom, boom-boom And after a short while, the ground shook once again. It s some dragons walking! 24-25
15 The little dragon ran h a p p i l y to find the source of the noise. It was the whole bunch of dragons and her mother was carrying a little dragon in her arms
16 Look, it s your little brother, they explained to Minu. You ll have to keep him company so that he doesn t feel lonely. Minu hugged him happily and listened to the beating of his heart. Boom-boom, boom-boom 28-29
17 It s the same sound as the one inside me! Exclaimed the little dragon. And inside me and inside your mother, explained her father. Ever since, Minu is no longer afraid of being alone. She knows that everybody is linked by the same sound: Boom-boom, boom-boom 30-31
18 Fear generates anxiety in the individual who feels it, but each person shows it in a different way. During childhood, we must also consider that the response also varies according to gender, age and even the socio-economic family status. For example, girls usually show their fear more than boys, as they also tend to show it without being embarrassed. Similarly, children from lower socio-economic status families tend to show their fears more intensely. With respect to age, the first fears, those of the baby, are shown with reactions of shock and uneasiness, crying and the need to strongly hold onto an adult. When a child begins to walk, he will also crawl or head towards his mother or father to find support and satisfaction, will cry of he wants to be picked up and will move away from everything that makes him afraid, such as a stranger or a loud noise. When he is a bit older, the response to fear is somewhat more complex and can be shown in different ways: Lying, denial and physical or mental evasion The child does what he can to avoid confronting the source of his fear. For example, the child that takes a longer route to avoid going through a tunnel because he is scared of the dark, or who mentally isolates himself within his thoughts to avoid being in the middle of family arguments. Aggressiveness and impulsiveness The fear of being laughed at can be a motive for the child to act in an aggressive manner with his schoolmates and the fear of being ridiculed in class can be the cause of an impulsive and incorrect answer to the teacher s questions. Mental changes A terrified child can accentuate his shyness, irritability, sadness and indecision when faced with a situation that makes him scared. Physical reactions Stomach aches, loss of appetite, insomnia, sweating hands and body and stuttering when speaking are symptoms of fear. If the fear is shown in a disproportionate manner, can interfere with the child s daily activity and when the parents advise and comforting are futile, we could be faced with a situation of phobia. In this case, it would be appropriate to consult a doctor. How do we show fear? 32-33
19 Activities Playing with fear One way of overcoming fears is to play with them, confront them and put them to the test. You will need a dose of courage, but you will gain security and end up having a great time. Hide-and-seek You can play hide-and-seek in the house or outside. One of the players must close his eyes and count to twenty or whatever number you have agreed upon. Meanwhile, the rest of the players find places to hide. When the counting is finished, the person counting must look for the others, without going too far away from the starting point. At the same time, the other players must try and approach him without being seen to save themselves for the next round or to save the whole group, if he is the last player left to be found. The first player to be seen must count in the next round. The little blind hen Get together with your friends and ask them to form a circle. Stand in the middle with your eyes blindfolded: You will be the little blind hen. Now the circle will turn for a few moments. You can shout stop, sing a popular song or play some music and ask somebody to stop it. Then the circle will also stop turning and you will have to approach one of your friends, touch his face and guess who it is. If you are right, change roles and the game will have a new little blind hen
