4 Interpreting your Wellbeing Development Report This report is based on your responses to the Flourishing Profile (FP) survey. The information in this report (and presented on the Flourishing at School website) is general in nature and should not substitute the assessment and advice of a mental health professional. If you have any concerns regarding your wellbeing, please see your general practitioner, psychologist, or call Lifeline ( ). Percentiles Your wellbeing development report makes use of percentiles in order to understand the current state of wellbeing contributors in comparison to an adult normative sample. A percentile expresses the percent of other scores Table: Flourishing Profile s, Percentiles and Descriptors Percentile Descriptor that are less than the data point of interest. For instance a percentile score of 50 would mean that the score in question was higher than 50% of all scores in the norm group. Your wellbeing development report commonly uses scaled scores between 1 and 9 in order to group scores into Above average Average Below average distinct categories. In general terms, the higher the scaled score, the better the score on a particular scale in relation to helping you flourish. The table above illustrates the percentile range and descriptor attached to each scaled score. Interpretation of Flourishing Profile Summary (Page 5) Summary profile FP dimension name FP scale name This represents a scaled score of 5 Scaled score descriptors This page provides a snapshot of how your wellbeing contributors compare to the normative sample. Coloured areas represented in the profile are the scaled scores (between 1-9) obtained by comparing your selfreport on each survey scale to the norm group. The more colour present in your summary profile, the greater your level of wellbeing is likely to be. Summary of scaled scores that are in bottom 30 th percentiles, 31 st -70 th percentiles, and 71 st -99 th percentiles 4
5 Flourishing Profile Summary Jill Sample Inner Ring (1-3) Middle Ring (4-6) Outer Ring (7-9) Dimensions coloured only to the inner ring indicate a scale score in the bottom 30th percentile compared to the total norm group. This is an area that is likely to be suitable for development in order to improve your wellbeing. Dimensions coloured to the middle ring indicate a scale score in the average range compared to the total norm group. You are likely to be doing satisfactorily in this area, however improvements could be made to increase your overall wellbeing. Dimensions coloured to the outside ring indicate a scaled scored in the top 30th percentile compared to the total norm group. This is a likely area of strength and is probably assisting you to flourish. Wellbeing Development Areas Satisfactory Performance School Flourishing Areas Community, Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep. Please review the resources section in your Flourishing at School portal for information and advice on how positive emotions can enhance your wellbeing.
