3 Elster A3 ESM Configuration Configuring A3 ALPHA Meter - Quantities and Daily Self Read Daily Self Reads must be configured. To enable and configure ESM to support Load Profile channel interval data for an object, that object must be configured as a Metering Quantity in the Metercat Quantities tab and as a Quantity to Record in the Metercat Interval Data Configuration tab. The four items below MUST be configured in Metercat to enable the SmartPoint module for ESM. 1. The A3 ALPHA Meter Program must be initially configured for Time of Use. Single rate demand does not support Load Profile. Go to the Program Type screen and select Time of Use. 2. The Interval Data object is configured by Metercat to be stored in one of the first 4 channels in the Load Profile tables. Go to the Interval Data Configuration tab and choose the desired object in the Quantities to Record list. A Metercat long diagnostic read will list what is configured. Alternatively, a list of these can be obtained OTA via a raw table read of table ST-62.LP_SOURCE_SELECT. 3. The same ESM LP channel interval data object must also be configured as a metered object in Metercat's Quantities Tab as one of the Metered Quantities. This list can be obtained by reading table ST-22.SUMMATION_SELECT[]. Go to the Quantities tab and choose the desired object in the Metering Quantities section.

4 2 Chapter 1: Elster A3 ESM Configuration 4. Every A3 ALPHA meter be configured for Self Reads in accordance with this document. On A3 ALPHA meters, the daily self read always happens at midnight. This is where the simulated end readings come from. Self readings will be supplied only with an ESM that carries a timestamp of midnight. Daily Self Reads scheduled for midnight are configured in the meter's program. Launch Metercat and open the program for the meter and click the Special Dates tab. If you did not activate the Special Dates tab when you created the program, you must go to the Properties tab and activate the Special Dates tab. Click the Special Dates tab.

5 Chapter 1: Elster A3 ESM Configuration 3 Click the Add button; Metercat will display the Recurring Date Configuration screen Uncheck the Calendar Action checkbox Check the Self Read checkbox Select the Every radio button and set to "1 day" starting the day you program the meter For any additional questions regarding Metercat, please access the provided Help files by pressing the F1 key.

6 4 Chapter 1: Elster A3 ESM Configuration Elster A3 ALPHA Meter Order Entry Confirmation Checklist The following items need to be confirmed prior to completion of an A3 ALPHA Meter Program (PED file). 1. Confirm that the meter type has been programmed for Time of Use (TOU). 2. Confirm that the meter style # has been properly configured and will be ordered with Load Profile (LP) enabled. 3. Confirm that the meter LP Interval Length is configured to = 5 min, 15 min, 30 min or 60min only. 4. Confirm that the meter has been configured for Daily Self Read. 5. Confirm that the ESM LP sources and the Meter Quantities are both configured and match. 6. Confirm that the A3 Alpha Metercat Program File (PED) has been provided to Sensus.
