2 MONDAY, 27 OCTOBER GLOBAL TB SUMMIT An inaugural meeting co-organised by The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease & the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Global TB bringing together elected from nine countries drawn from both developed and developing countries to discuss research and development of new medicines, diagnostics and vaccines. The Summit will be opened by Jose Luis Castro, Executive Director of The Union, and the Honourable Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Health for South Africa. NB: This event is not open to delegates or media. However, a number of Parliamentarians will be available for media interviews after the summit has concluded. TUESDAY, 28 OCTOBER GLOBAL TB SYMPOSIUM, (WHO) In May 2014 the World Health Assembly approved the WHO s Post 2015 Global TB Strategy which aims to end the global TB epidemic by 2035 with an associated 95% decline in TB incidence and the elimination of catastrophic costs for TB-affected households. This session will focus on strategies aimed at reaching those targets.
